Twilight Town Reality Series In The Works

27 December 2009 2:56 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Reality TV producers are planning a new series based on the Washington state town where the Twilight films are set.

Casting is underway for a new reality show about the everyday lives of the residents of Forks, Washington - which now calls itself 'The Home of Twilight'.

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer used the town of 3,000 as the backdrop for the vampire series.

Producer Zig Gauthier tells the local Peninsula Daily News, "Obviously we won't be out on the ocean or dealing with that kind of danger, but the idea is to show what life here is really like. There are a variety of ways we could do this, but of course this is at the very beginning stages."

However, the show will not focus on locals' claims to the supernatural.

Gauthier adds, "We want people who have a true connection to the community. We want to avoid people with outlandish claims." »

No surprise here: Twilight fans are salivating in preparation to sink their teeth into the franchise's much-anticipated sequel, New Moon. The film, which will be in theaters Friday, is already attracting record audiences for ticket sellers and venues across the country. According to Fandango, who notes that their numbers are increasing every second, several thousand New Moon showtimes have sold out, making it the most the company has ever sold prior to a film's release date. (And, yes, that means the film has even topped The Dark Knight, and movies from both the Harry Potter and Star Wars franchises.) AMC and MovieTickets. »

Could original 'Twilight' movies not based on the books be on the way?

19 November 2009 1:58 AM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

For any of the creative people involved on the first "Twilight," the past two years has been a dramatic journey few of them ever foresaw happening. At best, the first "Twilight" was going to be a popular teen flick that made somewhere between $50 and $75 million in the U.S. and maybe spawn a sequel.  Very few of the behind-the-camera talent saw a massive franchise-creating blockbuster in the making.  No one fits that profile more than screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg.  Before the property took off, the longtime TV writer's biggest claim to fame was the screenplay for "Step Up" and her producing »

Twilight stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner were evacuated from their London hotel on Wednesday following a fire alarm.

The actors were holed up at the luxurious Dorchester Hotel giving press interviews to promote their new movie, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, when their afternoon was interrupted by an emergency alarm.

Officials evacuated the building and forced the famous trio out on to the street with all the other guests while investigators checked out the alert.

A source tells E! Online, "Everyone was out on the street. There was (Pattinson) with his entourage, including Kristen."

A representative for the hotel insists the evacuation was merely a precaution and the stars were soon allowed back into the building.

The hotel spokesperson says, "(It was a) minor incident. It's all under control now and was dealt with quickly." »

Twilight Bosses Bite Back At Vampire Mag

9 November 2009 4:16 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Movie bosses behind the Twilight franchise are taking legal against the publishers of an unauthorised fanzine - accusing them of using photos from the films without permission.

Executives at Beckett media have released two issues of Twilight, part of the Beckett Teen Sensations series, which features images of the movie's stars, including Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

But bosses at Summit Entertainment, the company behind the vampire series, have filed suit in a bid to shelve the publication.

Papers filed at a U.S. federal court on Friday allege editors at Beckett used promotional photos from the Twilight films without permission in a bid to fill the magazine.

Lawyers for Summit Entertainment claim to have previously sent a cease and desist letter in a bid to stop publication, and are now demanding unspecified damages, according to TMZ.com. »

Robert Pattinson Beds Nicole Kidman

4 November 2009 9:46 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Once you've made emotional mincemeat out of legions of adoring young girls, what's next? How do you transcend tweendom and seduce the seas of adult women (Twilight moms not included)? Bedding Nicole Kidman is a start. Screen Daily reports that Robert Pattinson and Kidman have signed on to star in an adaptation of Guy De Maupassant's Bel Ami. Adapted by Rachel Bennette, the film will be directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod.

Published in 1885, Bel Ami is an erotic tale of journalist Georges Duroy and how he sleeps his way to the top of Parisian high society. After a few years of military service in Algeria, Duroy works as a clerk in Paris until he becomes a journalist, aided by Mme Forestier (presumably Kidman). 'Twilight,' 'True Blood' Vampires Win Big At Spike TV's Scream Awards

19 October 2009 7:00 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

From MTV.Com: At the previous three incarnations of the Spike TV Scream Awards, vampires were considered just another fanboy favorite, alongside such evergreens as zombies, killer robots, and busty sci-fi babes. But over the past 12 months, franchises like "Twilight" and "True Blood" have sunk their teeth into Hollywood, and Saturday night's taping of the fourth annual awards showed that there's no hate from the horror fans.

"'Scream' is in the name — how much cooler can you get?" marveled "The Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco, looking up and down a checkered black-and-white carpet that had scantily clad women on swings overhead and a unicorn frolicking with such stars as Christina Ricci, Keith Richards and Justin Long. "Vampires are hot! It's scary stuff; they love this whole sci-fi, futuristic thing. Vampires are hot, nerds are hot. The world is coming to an end."

We caught a sneak peek at Kristen Stewart shooting the November cover of Allure back in July at the Santa Monica Pier, and the issue is finally about to hit newsstands. It's yet another cover after her recent appearance in Interview as she makes the rounds to discuss her latest film in the Twilight series. She sat down to chat all about her personality, what sets the movies apart from all the other vampire stories, and even Robert Pattinson. Here's more: On her dating Robert Pattinson: "I read that story every day. . . it’s in a story every day, so let’s not put it in another one." On why Twilight resonates with fans: "There's a lot of [vampire] stuff out there, but this goes deeper. But it's [more than] just foreplay. Even though it does that so well -it does a f***ing good job - the build up is like, »

Mirror/Mirror — “88 Miles Per Hour”

27 September 2009 6:25 PM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

This past week, I revisited the Back to the Future trilogy, directed by Robert Zemeckis. These films essentially laid the groundwork for Michael J. Fox’s career — the man is synonymous with Marty McFly. The movies are a mad dash, guaranteed to raise your stress level and blood pressure no matter how many times you see them. I swear, I always think Dr. Emmett Brown and Marty are going to miss their one lighting quick chance to send Marty back to the future in the first film, despite watching it happen probably hundreds of times.

They got me thinking though — do we have any young actors like Fox in these films, frantic but cool, likeable but authoritative? Do any young guys have a role that’s so synonymous with their name that they’ll never be able to part from it?

Shia LeBeouf, for example, is probably most closely associated with the Transformers movies. »

Stephenie Meyer Novel 'The Host' Optioned For A Movie

23 September 2009 8:00 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

In other news, water is still wet. I think the most surprising thing about the news that "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer's novel "The Host" got picked up for a big screen adaptation is that it took so long to actually happen. Summit Entertainment has been doing so well with the "Twilight" series, you'd think they would have optioned the other Meyer book ages ago.

Instead, Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz ponied up to grab the rights for themselves, tapping "The Truman Show" writer Andrew Niccol to develop a script, according to a report in Variety. Wechsler and the Schwartzes are also the producers behind director John Hillcoat's upcoming adaptation of Cormac McCarthy novel "The Road."

Like "Twilight," "The Host" is primarily a love story. In place of vampires we have well-intentioned extraterrestrial parasites called Souls. One such Soul, known as the Wanderer, joins itself to »

5 Reasons to Love Robert Pattinson

10 September 2009 11:34 PM, PDT | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

There is no denying it; we are all placed under the "I Love Robert Pattinson" spell that will hopefully never break. Last summer, only a dedicated few knew this British actor was absolutely fabulous. It took the rest of the world a little longer to catch on, but eventually we did, and we gave it everything we have. There are many reasons to love Rob and we took on the daunting task of narrowing the characteristics to the top five. Good Looking. His tussled hair, his chiseled jaw line, and his infectious personality had fans lining up after seeing his first Twilight based interview. Yes, there are many other important qualities to a person besides looks, but when you look like Rob, attention needs to be paid to the details. British Accent. Crisps sound more delicious than potato chips, lift sounds worldlier than elevator and the loo is just more »

After Twilight, Gothic Sex Takes a Bigger Bite

3 September 2009 1:29 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

What is it about a vampire and a werewolf that make everyone's pants fly off? Between the pandemonium over Twilight and True Blood, there's been renewed interest in why horror and sex have made a comeback in each other's arms.I've been publishing erotic literary fiction since the 1980s, so I've witnessed both the historical blood wedding of two genres— and the new twist in events.  Supernatural erotica— be it speculative fiction, horror or fantasy— is a genre where taboos are catnip. "Uncivilized" behavior, on every front, is the ultimate in escapist literature. But sci-fi and horror have something else in common with erotica — they've both been traditionally demonized as "harmful" and "contributing to juvenile delinquency."  They were each considered pulp fiction in the early days of the paperback revolution in the 1940s and 50s— subject to bans, censorship, and angry »
