- A supposed alien invades a rural home in Kentucky, which prompts the CIA to give Hynek and Quinn access to their top-secret program known as MK Ultra, which asserts that the alien attack has the potential to be the beginning of a larger plan.
- Allen and Quinn are called in the middle of the night to Hopkinsville, Kentucky upon the next reported sighting of a UFO. In speaking to the Shoemakers, the hillbilly family that reported the sighting, Allen and Quinn ultimately hear from the family patriarch, Jimmy Jay, that there was not only a saucer with lights in the sky, but that he actually shot an alien being from the craft, that injured or dead alien, which he could identify, probably still in the woods somewhere. While Allen and Quinn investigate further, many individuals associated directly or indirectly with with Allen, Quinn and/or Blue Book descend upon Hopkinsville in connection to the sighting. One of those individuals is their new friend from the CIA, Daniel Banks. While Allen, being a scientist, takes Banks' information with a grain of salt, Allen cannot deny certain connections to evidence in this case, and to someone from his recent past who has thus far provided reliable information. Meanwhile, Mimi begins to be viewed as suspect by others in her UFO group as just another lackey trying to protect the government. She takes measures to prove her value. And Quinn being called away places Susie in a precarious position with her associates in failing in her mission to kidnap him at the appointed time.—Huggo
