Michael Jackson’s death dominated tweets two weeks ago, and his memorial service today was no different. Reactions were mixed in the Twitter-Wood feed, but dependable tweeter Tyrese Gibson returned to his account with a shot from the service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Paris Hilton, Andy Milonakis and producer Jeff Katz were also among those sharing their thoughts.
There was plenty of pep elswhere in the Hollywood Twitterverse though. Emma Watson showed up to Tweet about her thoughts going into the “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” premiere and Rose McGowan shared a pic of her puppy, who is apparently celebrating a birthday today. Check out all of this and the questionable shake that Miley Cyrus swears is delicious in the Twitter-Wood report for July 7, 2009.

Hollywood may be slowing down in anticipation of the three-day Fourth of July weekend, but its citizens have still been tweeting hard today in the Twitter-Wood feed. Arnold Schwarzenegger in particular has been keeping his TwitterBerry application close in the face of California’s unresolved budget problems. In fact, today he met a rather enthusiastic fan that he will tell you about in perhaps one too many details.
America’s Independence Day means parties galore, and the faces of Twitter-Wood have been busy making plans. Emmy Rossum received a preemptive tweet-vite for an Evite from Jessica Simpson (along with a generous compliment), and Russell Brand today pondered aloud and uncensored what he will wear to P. Diddy’s infamous white party affair. Check out all of this and some grumbles from New Orleans on the set of “Father of Invention” below in the Twitter-Wood report for July 2, 2009.

We've been fans of up-and-coming artist Alexandre Tuis for a while, so we jumped at the chance to speak with him about his work and share exclusive concept art from his latest project, the live-action manga adaptation Blood: The Last Vampire, which is out already in the UK and debuts stateside July 10. Tuis also graciously shared additional original art from his personal collection of pop culture-based work (including his rendering of Doug Jones as Frankenstein, created in honor of Guillermo del Toro's potential film adaptation) and concept art from films such as Dragonball: Evolution and Xavier Gens' horror film,...

Unlike our first "Woman of Sorority Row," Audrina Patridge, I have no nudes of Jamie Chung, but we do have a few bikini pictures of her below... sorry best I could do. What she does have in common with Patridge, is that she also got her start on reality TV with the The Real World San Diego. Besides that she really hasn't done anything exciting -- unless you consider that Dragonball Evolution movie exciting -- making Sorority Row possibly the biggest project in her career, which is pretty sad for her.

Short version: Blood: The Last Vampire is a fun (if forgettable) film with some extremely well choreographed fight sequences. It’s really only for the action fans out there - anyone else may want to skip it.
Screen Rant Reviews 'Blood: The Last Vampire'
Blood: The Last Vampire is one of those action movies whose faults can be overlooked in favor of some entertaining action. There are plenty of problems to be found here: From cheesy dialogue and acting to the sometimes fake-looking CGI. But when the movie is in full-on action mode - that is, a young woman in a schoolgirl outfit hacking up vampires - it’s a lot of fun. And the fact that it stands at a tidy 90 minutes will means it’s easily re-watchable.
Based on the 2000 anime movie of the same name, Blood: The Last Vampire follows a half-human, half-vampire called Saya

Update: Check out our Jeff Goldblum photo gallery for some great shots of the actor throughout his career!
The last 24 hours have been about a week long in Twitter-Wood. After two unplanned updates with reactions to Michael Jackson’s death, I’m back with some regularly scheduled programming.
First off, the best news of the last day is that Jeff Goldblum is not dead. Kevin Spacey set the record straight on his Twitter account, and several others reacted as that rumor brushfire was extinguished. We’ve also got Tom Felton continuing his commentary behind the scenes at “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows,” Mandy Moore looking for someone to play “Battletech” with, and much more after the click.
@jonhurwitz As surreal as this day is for everyone else, I bet it’s extra surreal for Jeff Goldblum.

Mere hours after Michael Jackson’s death in Los Angeles, nearly everyone in the Twitter-Wood feed has already logged on to tweet their reactions to the loss of the King of Pop. While details surrounding this evening’s events are still coming to light, I wanted to assemble a special report that demonstrates how big of a role his contributions from “Thriller” to “Captain Eo” have played in the popular culture we all share.
Below are the sincere thoughts and responses to today’s news as tweeted by “Twilight” cast members, directors, and other Hollywood luminaries, including Mandy Moore, John Cusack, Miley Cyrus and many, many others.
@RachelleLefevre Rest in peace Farrah Fawcett & Michael Jackson. Condolences to their families.

Has the bad economy cramped your vacation plans this summer? Well, today in Twitter-Wood you can feel free to live vicariously through Paris Hilton’s trip to Dubai, Fred Durst’s continuing adventures in Poland, and Diablo Cody’s plans to hit up Dollywood. Did you know that Dollywood was still open? Because I didn’t.
There were plenty of follow-up tweets today, too, picking up where we left off with Tom Felton’s hair-dying for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows” the collective Twitterverse’s reactions to “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” Andy Milonakis, meanwhile, get a hat-tip for audio tweet of the day with his personal contribution to the online Perez Hilton/will.i.am conversation. The first trailer has arrived online for the upcoming live action adaptation of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender (henceforth known simply as The Last Airbender). I have to admit, my main interest in this film is to see M. Night Shyamalan do something a little different (and, more specifically, something he didn't write entirely himself), but although I have never seen the show, I am starting to think we could have a pretty epic fantasy flick on our hands here. The teaser trailer doesn't show much except for the main character Aang (played by first-time actor Noah Ringer) practicing some martial arts, only to reveal some enemy ships pursuing him. Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) is nowhere to be seen. Again, there's not a heck of a lot to go on, but I already get the impression that this will be a lot more successful than Dragonball Evolution was.

M Night Shyamalan’s The Last Avatar has released its first teaser trailer out into the world, and you can see it below. It’s too early to tell at this point whether Paramount will get the trilogy it might be hoping for from the film, or whether we have another pile of Dragonball Evolution on our hands. But the effects are somewhat nifty and while it all starts out sounding like a typical hero’s journey story (a “chosen one” who will bring “balance” to the world – original!) evolves...

You’ve probably noticed a large number of Twitter users over the last few days putting their profile pictures through green filters in support of protesters in Iran. Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Neil Gaiman, Rainn Wilson, and a handful of others on the Twitter-Wood feed are among those who have been participating in the week’s Iran tweetings I mentioned yesterday, with Alyssa Milano still dedicating her tweets to new news out of Tehran.
Iran isn’t the only news permeating our follow list’s discussion topics, though. PETA lashed out at President Barack Obama for swatting a fly during a CNBC interview this week, and both Hill and Clive Barker tweeted reactions today. You’ll find both of them, “Twilight” actor Peter Facinelli, and pictures from Emmy Rossum and Ice-t in today’s Twitter-Wood report for June 18, 2009.

Tyrese Gibson should be given some kind of medal from the “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” PR team, because his volume of TwitPic output since the film’s numerous international premieres began has been epic. Today was no exception, as he posted some candid shots of his fellow cast members, including his lovely co-star Megan Fox.
Miley Cyrus was busy posting pics of her own as she began shooting for her new film “The Last Song.” Today in Twitter-Wood we also learned that Mandy Moore possibly dabbles in Dungeons & Dragons and that Brea Grant plans to appear in an upcoming FunnyOrDie.com short. This fascinating blog from Alexx Henry Photography details the process of making a highly impressive “living” movie poster for of all things, a Hallmark movie called “Mrs. Washington Goes To Smith”. This is an exciting design concept you can expect to see become more and more popular. Think of them as highly advanced animated Gifs, the aim is to make you think you are looking at a still image. They are the future of online advertising and design. Direct links to the finished product: 1, 2, 3.

The guys over at Chud report that Marcus Nispel has replaced Brett Ratner to direct the planned “Conan the Barbarian” remake. Nispel has plenty of remake experience having directed both “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)” and “Friday The 13th (2009)”. Next question: Who will play Conan?

It's been a while since we learned that Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way production company was planning to produce a live-action adaptation of Akira, the post-apocalyptic manga that was also made into an animated film. Those of us who don't generally follow such things just tuned out and assumed the movie was progressing as usual, but now there's bad news, coming from Bloody Disgusting. They've been told by two sources that the project is "dead as a doornail," and first-time director Ruairi Robinson has left the project. Anime fans are big on Akira, and this likely could have been the kind of crossover success that Dragonball: Evolution most definitely wasn't, convincing the anime-wary that the genre is worth a shot. It may very well be the complete failure of Dragonball that tanked this movie, with Hollywood assuming that if one anime adaptation doesn't work, none can. Of course that's not fair,

From the You've Got to Fucking Be Kidding Department comes the news of a Dragonball sequel. The first film in the...uh...series was Dragonball Evolution, a name that obviously hints at future installments. Apparently, American audiences didn't get that hint, since the movie made less than $10 million here in the states.
But James Marsters, who plays Lord Piccolo in the movie, told a fansite (via Cinema Blend) that a part two is imminent. "I’ve just heard that I can actually tell that there is going to be a sequel,” he said, apparently without a hint of shame.
So how could Fox justify another outbreak of the plague? Simple: It was big in Japan.

A James Marsters fansite (originally published here, from German mag “Nautilus”) posted an interview today in which he confirmed that he will be returning for a second film based on the the cult Manga series “Dragonball Evolution”. Marsters portrays the villain character known as “Lord Piccolo”.
The original “Dragonball Evolution” grossed $9 million dollars in the Us, and around £1 million on a fairly limited release in the UK, but hauled in $45 million from international markets, playing especially well in China and Japan.
We also received details today about the UK release of the film on DVD and Blu-ray, scheduled for September 7th 2009. The releases will feature a good bundle of special features, including some Blu-ray exclusive content as below.
“Released by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment the film follows the young Goku (Justin Chatwin – War of the Worlds, The Invisible) as he battles the most evil of villains in his quest to protect the Earth.

Even though here in the United States, Dragonball Evolution was a massive flop hated by everyone but the most self-loathing of Dragonball fans... it's getting a sequel. James Marsters, who played the villain Lord Piccolo in the first film, confirmed the rumors in an interview with a fansite. Marsters says that after his upcoming concert tour, "we'll start shooting the second Dragonball movie. I've just heard that I can actually tell that there is going to be a sequel." Even the Dragonball fan community seems less than enthused by this announcement. The question everyone seems to be asking is: "Why god why?!". Here's why: Dragonball Evolution made only a miserable $9 million dollars, total, domestically. Unfortunately it seems international audiences are a little less savvy than American crowds. Overseas this bright and shining turd made $45 million. In particular it was big in both Japan and China. Meanwhile Fox spent almost no

DVD Links: DVD News | Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Revolutionary Road I'm not exactly excited about any of the selections this week and as anxious as I was to see this movie last year, it ultimately disappointed me. The best way to describe this film would be to say it is just there. I got nothing from it. The book, however, I certainly recommend you read, although, like the film, it too is a bit of a downer, but at least it is brilliantly written. Defiance It is no wonder Paramount Home Video is offering a special deal if you buy Defiance and Revolutionary Road since both films are right there in the luke warm middle of the road. I will give Defiance credit for interesting me just slightly more than Rr, but by the time I was supposed to review it last year I didn't even make the effort.

Thanks to Ugo, we have the first teaser poster for The Final Destination, the fourth, and presumably final (see what I did there?) installment in the surprisingly successful teen horror franchise. Eric Bress and David R. Ellis (who wrote and directed the second movie, respectively) are back for the fourth movie, which stars Bobby Campo, Shantel VanSanten, Krista Allen, Mykelti Williamson, Haley Webb, Nick Zano, Andrew Fiscella and Richard T. Jones.
The Final Destination will be in 3D, which can be assumed is the trick the studio has up its sleeve to hook audiences into a franchise that’s gone past it’s sell-by-date already. Before we get to the poster, here’s the synopsis the studio has for the movie:
On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O’Bannon has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash,
