I get it.

I get it. It wants to be a 90s horror game. It is very self aware that it is a version of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and a lot of every other survival horror games of the era. The negatives do outweigh the positives, however, It is a close call.

The story is overwhelming. I hope you like reading, because you will be doing a lot of that. You will get a great deal of information on to what is going on. However, the cut scenes are so god awful and poorly written (maybe on purpose), that you won't know what the heck is happening.

I do love RE and the rest. So this was enjoyable to see a little throwback. Especially with the references and nods. That was excellent. But overall... it's just not quite right. Solid play, but not worth finishing or caring about. 6/10

A Bridge Too Far

Overambitious, under delivered is the best way to describe this game. I want to like this game but the janky mechanics, poor quality cut-scenes, dumb boss fights and over complicated puzzles puts me off from giving this a higher score. Now to be fair, this game was originally conceptualized as a Resident Evil 2 Reborn fan-made remake that morphed into what we now know as Daymare: 1998. The Devs probably wanted to emulate that 90s survival horror vibe in the earlier Resident Evil games. I salute their effort for trying.

Daymare, more like nightmare

I liked the initial feeling of the game. Mood was quite right and voice actors ok. Some of the dialog sounds like couple of "tough kids" on backseat of school bus making up stories of their violent encounters so script could be a bit better. Zombie sounds were 50/50, some of the voices were scary but others sound silly. Something like 5 minutes after started playing the character got stuck. So somehow got on the wrong side of desk and chair in one room. Character doesn't jump, climb or even kick away any of the seemingly light furniture. Well I restarted the game and was a bit more cautious (but didn't get much further). If I didn't have a choice I'd play this through, but since I got couple of Tomb Raiders waiting this one goes back to shelf.

Horrible game

This game is really bad in so many ways: Stupid characters, bad gameplay, boring scenarios, some ridiculously difficult boss fights even in easy mode... it could be a good game, it´s a shame, but it´s just horrible!
