- Jack Bauer: I think you've got a problem: Almeida called that office seconds after Schector was killed, how do you think he knew I was there?
- Renee Walker: Assuming he had him under watch
- Jack Bauer: I think it came from your office
- Renee Walker: What?
- Jack Bauer: Someone inside the FBI tipped him off: they were the only people who knew I was going with you
- Renee Walker: No, I can't believe that
- Jack Bauer: No, and I didn't want to believe Tony Almeida was a terrorist but at some point we have to deal with the facts, not with what we "believe" is true
- Renee Walker: Look, I read your file, I know you have a propensity for not trusting people but my team has been working around the clock to find Almeida: they are all good agents
- Jack Bauer: Explain to me how they got a sniper on the roof that quickly?
- Renee Walker: I told you, Almeida had Schector staked out
- Jack Bauer: We were in Schector's office for ten minutes, there was no way they could've got a shooter in position that "fast." Now until you know where the "leak" is, you've got to assume you've got a bad agent. You've got to work around him
- Renee Walker: Ok, no offense but I brought you here to help with Schector, not "co-manage" this operation
- Jack Bauer: You brought me here to help you find Almeida and I am warning you, you better be careful who you let in
- David Emerson: [Talking privately] so tell how the FBI managed to find Schector?
- Tony Almeida: They used an old colleague of mine: an agent by the name of Jack Bauer
- David Emerson: Yeah I know who Bauer is
- Tony Almeida: His not going to be a problem, I took care of Schector before he could tell the FBI anything, I'll take care of Jack Bauer too
- David Emerson: Then I want you to work on this new job
- Tony Almeida: Speaking of which, you haven't told me what it is
- David Emerson: Tanner has the specs: he'll brief you when he gets here
- Tony Almeida: Why don't you just tell me now?
- David Emerson: Because you don't need to know "yet." Tony, we've been doing this for three years. The less information any one of us has, the safer we all are. Come on, after this next job, we're done, "cash our chips", do whatever we want
- Tony Almeida: [Nods] alright, I'll call you when Tanner gets here
- Angela Nelson: [Giving a statement to the press] good morning ladies and gentlemen, despite global condemnation and the UN imposed economic sanction, General Benjamin Juma has refused to stop the genocide that his brutal dictatorship has been perpetrating since he took power. The President has made a "persuasive" case to the world that full scale military intervention by US forces and a complete overthrow of the Juma regime would be the only way to stop the continued slaughter of the innocent men, women, and children of Sangala
- Ule Matobo: I know how hard you fought to get the support needed to launch this military operation and I wanted you to know our country will be eternally grateful
- President Allison Taylor: Our soldiers are the ones truly deserving of your gratitude: they're the people putting their lives on the line
- Ule Matobo: Still, I know your taking a great political risk
- President Allison Taylor: I have no reservations: stopping Juma is the right thing to do "but" once his removed from power, it is critical he be dealt with in the court of law and not in a way that will perpetuate this cycle of violence
- Ule Matobo: Juma has killed over two hundred thousand of our people including two of my own brothers so no one knows more about the cycle of violence than I do but my countrymen will want to see Juma punished
- President Allison Taylor: Then punish him according to the rule of law: that's the only way democracy will work in Sangala: no one is treated "outside the law", not even Juma
- Ule Matobo: [Stands up and extends his hand] you have my word
- Renee Walker: Back at Schector's office, when I told you to get Almeida's location out of him, how far were you planning to go with that?
- Jack Bauer: You told me to do "whatever it takes"
- Renee Walker: I said for Schector's benefit: to scare him but you were actually planning to do it. How far would you have gone?
- Jack Bauer: It doesn't matter now
- Renee Walker: It does to me, I just put my career on the line and because of you I'd like to know who I'm dealing with
- Jack Bauer: Yeah well, you read my file
- Renee Walker: Your file doesn't tell me how you "justify" the things you've done
- Jack Bauer: You know I've been answering a lot of questions lately about my past and frankly, I'm done. I told you I'd help you find Tony Almeida and I even agreed to do it your way. So since the FBI's been "compromised, it's no longer an option. I can still help you find him but you're going to have to let me do it my way. Is that going to be a problem?
- Renee Walker: We'll see
- Samantha Roth: This is quite a surprise: how are you?
- Henry Taylor: I wanted to have a word with you, in private
- Samantha Roth: Of course, I'm really sorry we haven't spoken since roger's funeral. It's been so difficult for me
- Henry Taylor: I know about the money
- Samantha Roth: Excuse me?
- Henry Taylor: Four hundred thousand dollars wired to an offshore account in the Cayman islands three days after you found my son's body: there's no point in denying it, I just want to know who paid you and why?
- Samantha Roth: Paid me?
- Henry Taylor: You know "something" about my son's death and somebody's paid you to keep quiet about it
- Samantha Roth: That is just not true
- Henry Taylor: [Sternly] just answer the question
- Samantha Roth: The money... it isn't mine
- Henry Taylor: What do you mean it's not yours?
- Samantha Roth: It "belongs" to my aunt: she's has financial "difficulties since my uncle passed away last year, it's from his divested real estate holdings. I "suggested" she move it to an offshore account to hide it from the IRS
- Henry Taylor: You want me to believe you have the "presence of mind" to commit "tax fraud" three days after my son died, the man you supposedly "loved"
- Samantha Roth: I did love him and I'm telling you "the truth". You have to believe me
- Henry Taylor: I don't, you're lying
- Samantha Roth: Well, if that's what you think, then we have nothing left to talk about
- Henry Taylor: [Grabs her arm when she tries to walk away] you're not going anywhere until I get the truth
- Samantha Roth: Let go of me
- Henry Taylor: You know who murdered my son
- Samantha Roth: No one "murdered" him: he killed himself
- Henry Taylor: I'm going to find out what you're hiding and when I do, God help you
- Larry Moss: [Over the phone] Dornan said you left the scene, why? What's going on?
- Renee Walker: SWAT has the operation well in hand, I'm following up on a "lead"
- Larry Moss: What "lead"?
- Renee Walker: A weapon we found at Schector's: there's a partial serial number, I want to run it past its source
- Larry Moss: With Bauer?
- Renee Walker: Yes, his accompanying me
- Larry Moss: [Irritated] what the hell is going on?
- Renee Walker: What're you talking about?
- Larry Moss: Getting our hands on that shooter is our best chance at finding Almeida and finding that device and I don't think you'd turn your back on that operation for a "lead" you can easily pass off to another agent
- Renee Walker: I'm not sure what you're getting at?
- Larry Moss: Neither am I. Is Bauer gotten you involved in "something"?
- Renee Walker: Do you trust me?
- Larry Moss: You know the answer to that
- Renee Walker: Then just please accept what I'm telling you: we're following up on a "lead" and I will fill you in if and when we find "something"
- Larry Moss: [Before hanging up] alright
- Tim Woods: [Meeting in the Oval Office] FAA has landed flights so far without incident but these people have proven what they can do at any time and can sabotage air traffic or any of the infrastructure systems we have behind the firewall
- President Allison Taylor: Does NSA have a timeframe on "fixing" it so we can keep these people out permanently?
- Tim Woods: Madam President the CIP firewall was result of a multiyear project: reengineering the code could take weeks or months. At this point, NSA just doesn't know
- President Allison Taylor: Exactly what systems are vulnerable Dr. Cornell?
- Dr. Cornell: [Showing her on a monitor] at the top of the list would be the national power grid. If disabled, we could end up being unable to deliver power to many millions of people: a blackout of that scale would almost certainly result in rioting in major cities. Even more critical, are the water treatment and distribution systems, sabotaging key damns and sewage processing plants, they can contaminate water on a massive scale. Deaths from poisoning would be "substantial" up front, massive casualties would soon follow after as people begin to die from dehydration
- Ethan Kanin: Is there any way to protect these systems?
- Dr. Cornell: The only way would be shutting them down and within a short time, it would be impossible to supply the population with sufficient food and clean water: resulting civil unrest would undoubtedly "aggravate" the situation
