A "dirty" job..., 29 November 2007
8/10
Author: Guardia from Brisbane, Australia.

In a off-beat tribute to America's founding fore-fathers, Ren and Stimpy (well Stimpy initially, at least) are portrayed here as pioneers, willing to sacrifice their lives for people they "will never meet!", (so says the strange dog/commander guy in their "pep-talk".

They leave behind the rest of the pioneers (who are treated to the attention of the remaining women), to push-on to the final frontier, which is shown to be a mixture of snowy, mountainous, forest, and desert climates. They move through all these areas (atop strange looking yaks), at the mercy of the weather, wildlife and natives. Funny one-shot gags in this section.

Soon enough, things turn downhill, and they are faced with starvation. After several stupid ideas, Ren has a great idea - they then tap into one of Canada's natural resources for survival. It's stupid, illogical and a good bit of humour.

The highlight of this episode is the musical ensemble that finishes it - another satirical take on patriotism and colonialism. It's sung in that classic anthem-style, but we are treated to a massive dressing-down of the pioneer spirit. (But they seem to have censored the word "hell" from the lyrics).

Great episode.
