Would 'Scientists' Really Talk & Look Like This?, 4 November 2008

Thankfully, "Adam" (A.J. Buckley) is a supporting character on this show and usually doesn't get a lot of air time. I think he's a very annoying idiot, but I'm not a 20-something geek who knows all the cyber role-playing games and the like. Nevertheless, like the medical examiner "Dr. Sid" (Robert Joy) he almost always has something irreverent and out-of-character to say. By "out-of-character," I mean nobody in real life in that kind of job would talk like they do here. Then again - in real life - scientists, lab techs and policemen don't look anywhere as attractive as our CSI heroes (especially the Miami show) do....period.

Anyway, the assignment is to find who killed this woman and left her among a bunch of mannequins in a building. The girl was dressed with green hair and didn't look real. She was made up, it turns out, to look like her computer character and her wounds, with the exception of a bullet hole, are strange.

This really gets strange, at least for someone like me who is clueless about this video role-playing stuff. Anyway, it's still interesting, especially at the end when things switch to real-life action. That ending is very cool and reminds me of a "Kill Bill" Uma Thurman-type character, in this case a professional contract killer.

What I didn't know until the very end, was that apparently this was the first of two-part story because the story leaves you up in the air. Then again, maybe it's one of those deals in which we will see this professional killer somewhere down the road in another episode.

(Note: I couldn't stand the suspense, looked up things here at IMDb and found out it is the latter - the killer escaped and will return for one episode next year. Damn! I have to a whole year to see this woman again!) Meanwhile, the mystery of the "333" calls to "Mac" (Gary Sinise) continue.
