Storyline

Four black men of various ages are at work in a barbershop. A resigned and long-suffering senior citizen calmly shaves himself. An alternately jovial and frustrated older man named Red sits in his barber chair waiting for customers. A resolute middle aged man named Keith graciously cuts a child's hair, while the new teenage employee impatiently paces back and forth, complaining and wanting to leave. The older men alternately ridicule, console, and boss the new guy, explaining that none of them asked to be there. Later, another employee arrives with important news that he is reluctant to share. What is the news? And how will it affect each man? Written by TimeNTide

Awesome Haunting Short Film... THIS is Why I Seek Out Short Films
20 August 2008 | by (Jacksonville, FL) – See all my reviews

I've seen this short film on Cinemax a couple of times, and I have to say it's simply an awesome short film. It left more of an impression than most of the two hours films I've watched, and it reminds one that a very powerful story can be told in a short amount of time.

You can click on the plot summary link to get a short plot setup description. I certainly don't want to say any more than that and ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Terrific ensemble acting, beautiful black and white cinematography, intelligent, thoughtful writing, and moody music make for one excellent haunting short film. Even the sound of the wind blowing as the closing credits rolled along got to me.

Definitely seek this short film out...
