'The New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show' was one of the Scooby Doo shows that was actually better than remembered through young adult eyes. Never disliked the show, but it was never among my favourites of the Scooby Doo franchise. It still isn't and some episodes are better than others, which is true actually of all the shows in the franchise but more so the 80s incarnations. But there were a few things not picked up upon before that came off really well, and what bothered me when younger actually was one of the best things.

"Who's Minding the Monster?" and "Scooby a La Mode", both episodes having grown on me a little, is one of the double bills where the two are equal in quality for different reasons. Meaning both just a little above average but also no great shakes, both succeeding in the humour and settings but wanting in terms of story. Neither are among the best of 'The New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show', but neither are among the worst. Somewhere in the middle if anything.

"Who's Minding the Monster?" (6/10)- One of the best looking episodes of the show, especially the eerie looking backgrounds and really loved the interiors of the castle. The music has atmosphere and energy. Some of the humour is amusing, but it's the creepier moments that shine more. There is some nice creepiness and the classic horror monsters are great fun to spot and well utilised. Shaggy and Scooby never fail to be funny and endearing and Daphne's more resourceful and assertive personality that she began to adopt in the 80s is very refreshing. Outside of 'Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo', Scrappy hasn't bothered me as much as most do. The chemistry between them is great as is the voice acting.

Did feel however that the story is paper thin and over-stretched, this could have been 5 minutes shorter quite easily. Which made some of the pace drag. Too many of the jokes are very repetitive, such as the "poopsie" ones that really dumbed down the characters in question. It doesn't feel enough like Scooby Doo and more like a 'Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo' episode with just the trio with some of Daphne, and feels a little out of place with it not being a mystery really.

"Scooby a La Mode" (6/10)- Had no issues with the music, the gang (in character writing and interaction) and the voice acting for reasons said already above. Loved the setting and the food jokes, and it is the funnier episode.

It however gets minus points for the rather rushed story that could have done with 3 minutes longer, and for the more goofy than creepy villain. The reveal is also very predictable and the animation looks rushed with the colours being blended in too much, the villain particularly is not particularly well drawn.

Above average but not great. 6/10.
