EA finally returns with a decent game!
johanloth27 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
(I am not going to tell you about the subject of the game, you can read that in the other IMDb comments. I'd rather focus on giving critics.)

Ever since MOH European Assault came out, EA has been criticized by their lack of revolutionary gameplay. And now, with Call of Duty giving a heck of competition, EA finally came up with a plan to change WWII shooters with their free roaming concept of Airborne invasion. But does it work? Well, first of all, you jump out of a C47 which gives you a nearly true impression of what it would be like to see your army boots in the air while some AA gun fires at you from below. And yes, you can land everywhere. Which is great, either you decide the land on a church tower or behind some Nazi gun emplacement. It really is up to you and this possibility of open gameplay does work. What truly is innovative is the ability to upgrade your weapons and the fact that you encounter different 'layers' of the German Wehrmacht, from the Afrika Korps to the Fallschirmjager. The weapons are great and I still can't decide which one is better. Grafics, shades, light, it's just d**m excellent. But if you really want to go into details, you'll probably see some historical goofs and some minor gameplay flaws. But hey, I am a nerd so I'll just tell you some: First of all, in the last two missions ( Varsity and the Flak tower) I got this huge Wolfenstein deja- vu; some "super Nazi elite trooper" running around with a MG 42 on his shoulder! Market Garden is in some details realistic ( I know, because I live in Nijmegen) but Tiger tanks did not take part in the German push into Nijmegen....anyway. And, although upgrading your weapons allows some replay value, it is a heck of a short game.( 6 hours max. on normal difficulty)

So yes, it is a short but impressive game. And different than Call of Duty for it's less cinematic and more open gameplay. It's the best airborne experience after Brothers in Arms.

PS. please do not buy Medal of Honor Vanguard as it is a " b- movie" version of Airborne.

Loved pretty much everything about it............
ged_white7229 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Right i got this game today and loved it so much and also great graphics. The only thing i found annoying is that when you reach a checkpoint you still go back to the parachute but the good thing is all the objectives are still completed so i I'm not bothered about it anymore. Also one of the best things about it was you actually get to choose two primary weapons and a pistol. I also like that challenge system when you get a full blue gun on your HUD (i have only completed m1 gar and) and get and grenade launcher. I have just started second level and i would say its going to take some time to get used to the controls because i have cod4 and there not really different controls much. Also seeing as I'm on that subject i thought it was like CoD4 in ways. You have a grenade indicator and regenerate health but i don't like that about CoD 4 because you can basically be invincible but on this one you have 4 little bars so if you only have 2 bars left you don't regenerate all the way back to 4 but you can be close to invincible as long as when you get hit you get to cover and regenerate health. It wont let me do that message board thing but it works for you and you have the same question why not post this on message board. Do you think MOH creators will make a Vietnam, gulf war or modern day game? It can get quite boring always playing WW2 games.I only have one modern warfare game and thats CoD4.

The best medal of honor in a while....
Gunmaster4530 September 2007
(Review for Xbox 360 game.) Despite knowing what will come, I still try the medal of honor games with hope that they will get better. It finally happened. This is not only the best medal of honor, but one of the best WWII games in a while. The game lets you play a US paratrooper named Travers as you jump into the levels from a plane. You steer your chute down to where you want and complete the sprawled out missions in the vast, non linear towns of Europe. Using a vast arsenal of realistic working and shooting weapons such as The 1928 Thompson, M1 Garand, Colt 1911, and several other realistic weapons, you fight several different axis enemies with okay AI. The games shooting is a mixed idea. Hitting your target is not as easy as other games. This could be a problem do to bad hit detection or major realism like in BIAs(brothers in arms) games. But it also has a very realistic shooting mechanic. You squeeze the trigger on the controller to maintain accuracy just like in real life. The game also features a weapons upgrade system. For each enemy you kill, the little meter moves up and then the gun upgrades. (Better accuracy, higher capacity, stronger bullets, etc.) And don't worry, most of these upgrades are realistic and stick to real life upgrades so you still have very realistic weapons. MOH:A also has excellent graphics and good working controls. The multi player is good as well. While the health system is not as forgiving as Call of Duty, you'll still have a fighting chance. Don't miss this game, or you'll be sorry.

Less History, More Combat.
barney_holmes11 June 2008
In a nutshell this is a WW2 FPS shooter on steroids, but with less history and atmosphere than Pacific Assault. For example, despite the fact that an historical adviser was present, it lacks any interesting historical notes and deeper references to WW2 history.

Maybe it's because I was playing this on a Quad core system, but the combat is SO fast. It reminded me of the days of UT 99. It's good to see that Unreal engine can still deliver. So that's the good news. The player can really test their skills and reaction times.

The criticisms from some quarters are justified, they keep the game designers on their toes. But credit is due. I was constantly gasping at the level design. They are very complex levels with cohesive environments that feel real. They seem built rather than cobbled together in some editor.

A worthy edition to the series, but if you want a deeper historical experience try Pacific Assault.

Lacking graphic quality...
evan_dow5 March 2021
This Medal of Honor title has been dedicated to the airborne division of the United States military. They fought in WW2 and still, if they have to defend the United States, will do so again.

The graphics could be better it is almost as if I was playing this game on the original Xbox or a Playstation 2. If you are going to undertake a project such as this you have to do it justice.

Every mission you start you jump out of an aircraft to kill Nazi soldiers. Landing where the green flare has been set off can be crucial. Where each mission has a green flare to indicate a "safe zone" that is.

A bit of history is in this game it has been based on real WW2 missions with famous quotes during the loading screens.

Just buy it, cheap as chips.
