The Undertaker's dark secret...
3 August 2016 | by (victoria b.c canada) – See all my reviews

Live from Evansville, Indiana

Your hosts are Vince McMahon & Jim Ross

Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels are both out for some promo time. Austin says he's the captain of the team and says he can co-exist with Shawn Michaels if it means taking out The Hart Foundation. He makes it clear he doesn't like Shawn. Shawn says nobody likes him and the two meanest SOB's are gonna kick some ass tonight. The Legion of Doom come out. They tell Michaels and Austin that if they (Michaels and Austin) win the titles tonight, they want the first shot. Austin and Michaels agree.

The Legion of Doom Vs Brian Pillman & Jim Nedihart

LOD wins by DQ after The British Bulldog and Owen Hart interfere. Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels run in and save The Legion of Doom. Shawn accidentally kicks Austin, and they get into a huge brawl.

D'Lo Brown Vs Bob Holly

D'Lo wins with a sit-down powerbomb. This was a glorified squash match. It was a nice debut for D'Lo.

Jerry Lawler cuts a promo that would never be aired today.

King of the Ring: First Round

Goldust (W/Marlena) Vs Jerry 'The King' Lawler

Lawler wins by putting his feet on the ropes. Lawler getting the win was certainly a surprise. It's debatable if Goldust should have won instead. That's another argument for another day.

*1/2 out of 5

Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels get ambushed by Owen Hart & The British Bulldog backstage. Michaels and Austin argue about watching each other's back.

Rocky Maivia Vs Flash Funk

Rocky wins with a flying cross-body from the top. This match was hard to follow because of The Headbanger's presence. Their antics were pretty distracting.

** out of 5

Bret Hart claims he needs only 10 minutes to beat Shawn Michaels at King of the Ring. Brian Pillman says he hates Steve Austin's guts and says he knows everything about him. The British Bulldog vows revenge on Austin for giving him 15 stitches. Owen Hart says Austin and Shawn Michaels don't stand a chance later tonight against them because Shawn and Steve can't get along.

Ahmed Johnson Vs Vader

Ahmed wins with a spinebuster. Ahmed looked very unmotivated here and the results showed. This was a pretty quick match. I feel sorry for Vader.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley (W/Chyna) Vs Rockabilly (W/The Honky Tonk Man)

Helmsley wins with a Pedigree. This was a heel vs heel match that was hard to get emotionally invested in. Billy's career was on the skids and Hunter's was on the way up.

We get part 2 of Mick Foley's sit-down interview. He talks about hitchhiking to MSG and the origins of Dude Love.

Tag Team Championship

Owen Hart & The British Bulldog (C) Vs 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin & Shawn Michaels

Austin and Michaels win the tag team titles after Shawn nails Bulldog with a superkick. Brian Pillman, Owen Hart, The and Jim Neidhart attack Shawn Michaels after the match. Austin leaves Shawn to fend for himself and attacks Bret Hart up on the stage. This is an excellent match. The Attitude Era wasn't really known for the match quality, but they still put on some memorable matches. Only Austin could act like a complete heel by leaving Shawn alone in the ring and still get cheered.

***1/2 out of 5

Michaels and Austin bicker some more backstage about who did all the work in the match.

Paul Bearer says he gave The Undertaker 7 days to come back to him, but his allotted time is up. He says Brother Love brought him into the WWF, but he's known The Undertaker for years. He says he helped bury The Undertaker's Mother and Father. There were three graves. Before Paul can continue, The Undertaker comes out. The Undertaker says he hates Paul Bearer for what he's done to him. He hopes his fans can forgive him for what he must do. He goes to chokeslam Paul Bearer, but ends up kneeling on one knee to him.

This is a pretty entertaining episode. The tag team title switch is very memorable and the ending to Raw was shocking as well. If you have the WWE Network, check it out.
