The Accidental Hero

When Bill is fired from his job on the ranch, he rescues Alice Joyce
from a a rampaging cow. When he suggests a spot of train robbing with a
half breed, it's up to his two friends to frustrate his plans in this
Kalem short movie.
The Eye Institute identifies "Bill" as George Melford, later a
distinguished and distinctive movie director, as does an acquaintance
who is certain it is Melford. The IMDb is not so sure.
In any case, this movie turns many of the commonly accepted tropes of
what movies used to do on their heads. It's the half-breed who is a
good guy and it's Miss Joyce who is the action heroine in this movie.
Kalem often had their lady stars running and riding about and with this
one, Alice Joyce, who in a decade would be playing more conventional
heroines, tossing around sticks of dynamite.
