Trivia

Not long before the film's release Ben Stiller visited a DC-area elementary school. There he handed out t-shirts and plush squids, and talked to the students. This was partly because a friend's son attended the school at the time. See more »

Goofs

Although George Armstrong Custer is typically portrayed with long hair and referred to as General, he had been reduced to his permanent rank of Captain after the Civil War. He was a Lieutenant Colonel at the time of his death at Little Big Horn - and had also cut his hair short to protect himself against being scalped. However, it's apparent that here he's portrayed in his Civil War "glory days" - he has a major general's shoulder boards and his double-breasted frock coat has the correct number of buttons. Additionally, he has his trademark red scarf and pin he wore on it at the time. Finally, he's portrayed as the 20-something he was 12 years before his death in Montana. See more »

Ahkmenrah: 'Do anything'?
Girl 2: Yeah, what's the point if it doesn't do anything?
Ahkmenrah: [looks at Dexter who chatters, "'Tell em'"] Actualy, it has a magical power to bring all of the exhibits to life!
Girl 2: No, really, what's it do?
Ahkmenrah: [stares at them] Nothing, it's just for decoration...
Girl 1: [wispering] I knew it.
Girl 2: Mmm-hmm.

Could have been a little...no, a lot... better
20 June 2009 | by (Florida) – See all my reviews

I thought the first one was great, but felt the second one was in a foot race to show as many of the old characters and new ones as fast as possible and get to the end. But then again, when are sequels ever as good? Let me take that back, Terminator 2 was awesome. And Lord of the Rings. And several others, but this one was in a frenzy to go nowhere. Stop. Take a Breath. Develop a more interesting script. I'm sure the writer had something better in mind and the studios just plucked the eyeballs out of it until it was just what it became in the end. This could have been one of those franchise things that do more than just make money. Yes, it will make money, but it could have been sprinkled with a little more TLC. Let's get back to basics. You know the movie is going to sell. You have the money and all the actors to sell it. Why not just make a movie with a better storyline. The best part of the movie was the trailer.
