Three sisters plan revenge for the mistreatment of their fourth sister
"Solo quiero caminar" (2008) aka "Walking Vengeance" is a neo-noir with all the main characters being criminals. Police have no important part at all. The main story is one of revenge that involves a caper, and there is a subsidiary love story that blossoms later in the movie.
I found this movie fairly interesting but hard to follow as it unfolded. There are movements of the characters that suddenly occur either without explanation or with slim information. Afterward, the plot became clearer. The script and/or editing were a bit of a jumble. Character development was fair, not absent but sometimes brought in clumsily. Although the very capable actors managed to hold our attention and flesh out their parts, they were not given a great deal of assistance from the script. For me, the result was a degree of disengagement from the proceedings. The overall result seemed quite average to me and the IMDb rating of 5.8 accurately reflects that.
The film looks very attractive. A lot of care went into the design and filming. Individual scenes are well-staged. The acting is very good indeed. Diego Luna projects strongly as the right-hand man and hit-man of drug boss, José María Yazpik. A bit of their business dealings is shown, but mostly not. The four sisters are thieves, safecrackers, and they all make a mark. Their leader is Ariadna Gil, who uses male prostitutes but finds a mutual attraction to Luna. Victoria Abril is a mother of a son who wants to be a bullfighter and is writing a story for school. He's close to his aunt, Elena Anaya. These three are plotting against Yazpik because of his mistreatment of a fourth hospitalized sister, Pilar López de Ayala.
