In this episode, Stephen Spinella guest stars as a devout Mormon man who has married a woman despite the fact that he is gay (because the church counseled him to do so to try to "overcome his same-sex attraction"). Spinella won back-to-back Tony awards for his performances in the original Broadway productions of the play "Angels in America: Millennium Approaches" and its sequel, "Angels in America: Perestroika." "Angels in America" is partly about the difficulties that gay Mormons face, and. like this episode, it also includes a character who married a woman to try to "cure" himself (unsuccessfully) of his homosexuality.
This episode contains a brief clip of Rhonda's demo recording with a cover of the song "City of New Orleans" incorrectly credited in the closed captions to John Denver. The song was written by legendary Chicago folk musician and songwriter Steve Goodman.
