Storyline

Now back at the Institute with Tom incarcerated, Peter Syme is forced to speak to the private detective Claire had hired to follow Tom. The meeting is a revelation to Claire who learns that everyone knew of Tom's alter ego except her. The detective reveals her theory on the origins of the Institute and its true scientific purpose. In flashbacks, we learn how Tom Jackman and his wife Claire first met 7 years previously and of his early days at the Institute. Even then, there were subtle suggestions of Mr. Hyde's existence: a thumb print that isn't his, a sudden growth of hair on his arms or a violent, sudden rage when his wife is threatened. Largely a filler episode
14 July 2015 | by See all my reviews

The "Jekyll" series has a good premise, a good cast, a great music score, but in this 4th episode it seems to be spinning its wheels. The action is fairly equally divided between the present and the past, but neither portion really gives us anything that we didn't already know, or hadn't already guessed, or is that important anyway. We learn that Dr. Jackman is NOT a clone, but we still don't learn what he IS. There is not even a payoff at the end, with Jackman / Hyde "stabilized" as one or the other, but if you want to know which one....tune in next time! "Doctor Who" fans will appreciate another conversation across two different time periods through a monitor, just as it happened in Steven Moffat's famous "Blink" the same year (2007), but other than that, let's just say that even if you skip this episode you won't have any trouble following the story. **1/2 out of 4.
