Storyline

Blaire Farrow has grown tired of her job as a client liaison for a wish granting foundation. She and her coworker Jimmy bicker every day, and she hasn't had a date in what feels like centuries. When Blaire decides to take in a handsome amnesiac, she thinks she's found everything she's ever wanted. But are there strings attached? AFI's Directing Workshop for Women presents a new take on an old tale about the search for love, the pain of longing, and the surprising power of a wish. Written by Anonymous

Lovely twisted fairy tale
23 February 2013 | by (Orange County, CA) – See all my reviews

I saw this film at film festival years ago and bought a copy for sale afterward. I've probably watched this film a dozen times since then and I show it to my students every year. The film tells the story of a young woman named Blaire who works for a mysterious wish granting foundation. She's also dealing with a handsome young amnesiac who apparently has shown up at her door. As the movie goes on, we learn that she works with a coworker Jimmy (who may or may not be in love with her) and they both meet with adults who have wishes to make. I don't want to give away the film, but I will say that the twist is surprising and satisfying. After watching the film a few time, I think there are some great themes about control as well as submitting to a greater plan. When you look back at the events of the film, you can see a logic at work that the characters are unaware of. I thought Melinda Page Hamilton and Nate Torrance were great in this and I'm not surprised to see them show up in more and more films. I have a DVD so I don't know if this film is available online, but it's worth a google search.
