Cast members were surprised at how often they were recognized while on location in Athens. Once, while dining in a restaurant, D'Arcy Carden was approached by a bartender who proudly told her, "I am also not a girl and not a robot."
Tahani takes woodworking lessons from Nick Offerman (playing himself), ultimately building a chair that Offerman calls "perfect". Because of Offerman's extensive knowledge and skill in woodworking, the producers let him pick the actual chair, and Offerman chose a piece built by a master carpenter, with a price tag of $58,000. However, it was discovered that the chair was located hundreds of miles away and couldn't be shipped in time, so the set decorators brought in what they thought was a close and reasonable copy. On the day of filming, Offerman took one look at the replacement and proclaimed it "garbage", adding, jokingly, that his woodworking peers would make fun of him for praising such a chair on-camera.
The scenes of Eleanor and Chidi at the Acropolis and Agora in Athens and at Sacre Coeur and the Pont des Arts in Paris were filmed on location.

All of the statistics in Jason's "perfect game of Madden" are significant:
- Score: 2576 - career passes completed by former Jacksonville quarterback Mark Brunell.
- Passing yards: 12358 - address of the original Good Place neighborhood.
- Rushing yards: 11271 - career rushing yards of Hall of Fame Jacksonville running back Fred Taylor.
- Average yards per play: 72.3 - passer rating of Jacksonville quarterback Nick Foles through five games in the 2019 season (before breaking his clavicle).
- Turnovers: 69 - the writers figured a "perfect game" for Jason would include either the number 420 (slang for marijuana) or 69 (slang for a sexual act), and thought the latter was more plausible.
