While it isn't directly said, it is heavily implied that Elaine and Carol's parents were killed in the 2017 Vegas Shooting.
In reality, Kate Yee, the actress playing Elaine, has never DJ'd whereas James 'Blaze' Blake and Kevin L. Coffman, the actors playing Brian Hooks and Wayne Skaggs respectively, are DJs. Blake's DJ name being "Notacop" where Coffman's is "Eon Man"
Despite this film being credited as "A Kevin L. Coffman film", Actor/Writer/Director/Composer Coffman himself has stated he specifically did this to avoid controversy with the actors as he expects to take the blame for any backlash for the film's controversial moments. However, any praise he says directs to all associated with the film.
Kevin L. Coffman has stated his film drew a lot of inspiration from an article written by female DJs Krewella, Dani Deahl, and Kittens.
Coffman has said The Dubster was inspired by four comic book villains: "He has the power of Electro, the brilliant mind of Dr. Octopus, the insanity of The Joker, and the hostility of Bane."
