The messed-up machinations of bored, oversexed stepsiblings Kathryn Merteuil and Sebastian Valmont aren’t quite as shocking in 2014 as they were when Cruel Intentions was released on March 5, 1999. (Blame Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and a zillion other glitzy/scandalous imitators.)
That said, Cruel Intentions is still an enormously entertaining teen movie, even 15 years (gulp) after its initial release — thanks to an uncommonly sharp script, a killer soundtrack, and, most importantly, an impeccable cast, which featured future Oscar winners and future Sharknado stars alike. Along with last year’s Oscar recipients Jennifer Lawrence, Daniel Day-Lewis and Anne Hathaway, two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz will present at this year’s Academy Awards, show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today.
Last year Waltz won his second Oscar for his supporting performance in Django Unchained.
He received his first in 2009 for his supporting role in Inglourious Basterds.
The Oscars, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will air on Sunday, March 2, live on ABC.

A home entertainment release looms for director Matt Hish and producer Autumn Federici's terrifying thriller Haunting of the Innocent. In the interim, the beautiful ladies of the film have completed a promotional photo shoot with some of the imagery from the film. Check 'em out!

The haunted town horror feature Haunting of the Innocent was released through Redbox formats in late January and now director Matt Hish and producer Autumn Federici’s visually stunning film is getting set to haunt home video formats.
In anticipation of the home video launch, several cast members participated in a publicity shoot, consisting of Jessica Morris, Hannah Cowley, Autumn Federici, and Mariah Bonner. Each actress is dressed in dark attire, which is synchronous with the film’s dark mood. Some of the symbolic imagery from the trailer, a raven, is also shown with actress Cowley. Update - The Houdini movie may have disappeared for some time, but now it's back, thanks to the magic of Max Landis. The Chronicle writer will revive the project by writing a new script for Sony. Francis Lawrence was committed to direct until he got The Hunger Games movies. While Landis does direct, it appears at this stage, he's just writing.
March 24, 2011 - Harry Houdini is the master of illusion -- he may have disappeared 85 years ago, but he keeps reappearing in movies as a character or reference point. Now, Francis Lawrence, the director of I Am Legend and the upcoming Water for Elephants, is in talks to direct a biopic about legendary magician Harry Houdini with Sony Pictures.
