Great episode!
eduardoabarca18 November 2019
Every Rick y morty´s episode makes you wonder why you still alive and how to make it worth it, there are always characters that want to die but kind of want to be alive, Pretty good landscapes and views as well! Great character design and the plot twist at the end is always the best part!!

Season 4 Is off to a great start, on par with season 1 and 2
carsonjuell18 November 2019
This episode was phenomenal and had all that I felt was missing from season 3. All three plots were interesting and there was also a decent amount of character development. This was a great episode that felt like it was straight from season 2. If season 4 continues to be this good it might be the most solid season yet.

A meaningful filler

Warning: Spoilers
While this episode was not really among the cleverest, twistiest and most entertaining pieces, I liked the idea how they turned a classically absurd Rick problem into an actually intimate character moment. Seeing Rick on his whimsical toilet thinking about being the loneliest guy in the universe was somehow a bit heart-breaking and utterly funny at the same time. And also quite unusal, given that we are not accustomed to Rick showing any kind af emotions to much, so this episode served as an additional layer of his character (or at least it strenghtened one which was already there). The Jerry and Morty storyline was a usual but still decent R&M subplot, nothing special about it, but the app monster (or whatever it is called) was kinda hilarious.

Overall, a very enjoyable episode, the creativity of the creators is still inhumane, but R&M at its best is still yet to come this season - and I'm 100% sure it will, just be patient and enjoy all the amusing journeys along the way. Not every episode has to be the best.

One of my favourites so far

Don't listen to the bad reviews... this episode was brilliant. Showing how in-depth rick will go over something a simple as a toilet; it's just simply genius. The whole episode had me rolling, the A-Boogie track was a perfect touch, people need to loosen up a little.

Season 4 is Already on Par With Season 2
onision-9051118 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is subtly incredible. Episode 1 was a good start, but we really get into some character development with this one. Rick's whole arc is tracking down someone who pooped on his toilet, one that is hidden in the woods, because he's a shy pooper. On the way, he does his typical Rick schtik by going to any length to figure out who this guy is. But when he meets him, he's surprised to find out that he wants Rick to kill him because he has not been fulfilled in life. Rick ends up sparing him and later on comes to find out he died from trying to live life to the fullest. The encounter sinks him into a drunken depression, him sitting on his toilet while surrounded by 1000s of himself telling him how worthless he is, which was originally intended for his dead friend. It's sad to see Rick in this state, silently grieving over a lost friend, while constantly reminded of how his existence is worthless.

Morty's character development is subtle. After Jerry develops an app with Rick's intern (which he was explicitly told not to do), Morty doesn't take too kindly to Jerry's screw ups. He tells his dad how disappointed he was in him and how he's embarrassed to be his son. It shows how much more he's becoming like Rick, more brutal and condescending with his speaking. I'm excited to see where his arc is headed. 10/10, one of my favorite episodes of the series.

billykals18 November 2019
Seems everytime a show tries to step out of its comfort zone people try to cancel it.... The first episode was full of material and was hella funny and the second one showed rick as a dynamic character. I hope we continue to see small vhanges in him this season. Def better than se 3!

Do you want to develop an app?
adampkalb30 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was a great story that really had me thinking of emotional connections for both plots. Love-match apps like LoveFinderrz can ruin a person's life because they change your match too fast and dropping everything to find your new match can lead to a lot of trouble. You should not trust this app if it keeps telling you to find someone else. That is why Glootie's kind who developed this app never uses it. Luckily, Glootie helps Jerry and Morty out by making an adwall to block it so everyone will delete it. As it turns out, Jerry and Glootie only have each other because LoveFinderrz never found a match for either of them. Luckily, Beth was always there to fight Summer on letting the matchmaker app control her, and Beth didn't trust the LoveFinderrz app when it matched her up with Ted Danson.

In the other plot, Rick Sanchez gets angry because Tony used his private toilet in a secret world. He goes through great measures to the sandwich store and the reptile wars for petty revenge on the one who pooped in his private toilet. Rick turns out to have a lot of conflicting feelings about Tony, he doesn't execute Tony for the toilet right away because he subtly starts to feel empathy for Tony since they are both shy poopers, and Rick realized he was spending so much time on arguing with Tony because he was lonely and a jerk who shut everyone out and needed a friend of his own. Sadly, after he encourages Tony to start fulfilling his life's dreams, Tony dies in a skiing accident. Rick gives his condolences to Tony's father at Tony's funeral, and gives him a cloning device so he can make a new Tony. Rick regrets making a hologram message of himself to chastise Tony when he uses the toilet and the Rick hologram message is directed at him. Let this be a lesson to you; don't get mad at another person who is a shy pooper like you and wants you to share a toilet. They might be just like you because they want to take the one part of their life they can make their own.

Solid if a bit forgettable.
philipposx-1229018 November 2019
The Season premiere was an absolutely great Rick and Morty episode. Not a show classic like S2E4, S3E1 or S3E7 but a very funny & uniquely inventive 20 minutes of television reintroducing us back into the world. The second episode, while still fun, is admittedly a step back and probably one of the more forgettable R&M episodes. The two plots, Ricks toilet & the Morty/Jerry adventure would be fine if they were subplots of an episode but neither one of them is good enough to actually highlight an episode. There are a couple of fun easter eggs here and there, and a cool if repetitive character moment for Rick, but not much more. Hopefully next week is going to be more meaningful!

One of the best
r-a-bang26 November 2019
Dont get the negative reviews at all - this was on par with the first episode of the season and stands as one of my favourite R&M episodes ever. I think some people are thrown a bit off because the episode is more "emotional" (for lack of a better word) than trying to be clever/funny. I love it!

Not bad, but not great either...
imdbisforme20 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I feel like the "tortured soul" of Rick is becoming an easy fallback for the writers. The ending had Rick, through a twist of irony, literally mocking himself for being the loneliest person in the universe. Here's the thing, Rick is adored by his family, yet continually acts like he's alone and unloved. He has friends. If this episode had focussed on him missing the connection to his absent wife, then maybe it'd be plausible. Getting really sad about losing a person he hardly knew, just made no sense. If Tony had been an intellectual match or had something about him other than the need to use Rick's toilet, I could understand. Rick getting so emotionally attached to him when there was nothing compelling or special about him, didn't make sense.

I enjoyed the B storyline more, but even that escalated to a ridiculous fight between Beth and Summer. It wrapped up far too neatly and felt slightly lazy to be honest.

It's still an enjoyable episode, just aimed for a 'tragic Rick' ending that missed the mark in my opinion.

The highlight for me was casting fantastic New Zealand actors - and Kathleen Turner- to voice the app aliens.

This episode really dives deep on the central issues of Rick's characteristics and LOVE. It is an emotional, meaningful and philosophical episode. "Loved" it.

Meh
okb9419 November 2019
Felt like it was trying too hard to be creative that it forgot to be entertaining. The plot was forgettable, the dialogue bloated with unfunny "clever" jokes and it was all just very messy. As a die-hard Rick and Morty fan I gotta say I'm not impressed so far with season 4.

Warning: Spoilers
I find it awesome, it shows us the real rick's loneliness and how he doesn't want to make other people (in this case tony) know about it, for example he said that he has thousand of better friends while his only two friends are a dead birdpearson and squanchy, and when tony dies she can see how he feels, pretty much like unity. At this point a fantastic episode but I'm not giving a 10 because of the rest of the episode, I mean it's good but not enough

A much darker season at its core, continues with the bad human experience
aelaos18 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This season have much darker overtones, than the usual R&M stuff. In this episode the desperation of loneliness that our cyberinfested society breeds is properly ridiculed. Either with the unresting search for the "perfect" match or trying to find friendship based in the slither of common interests as sharing the same toilet.

Light spoiler ahead: In this episode it shows that Rick is very lonely man, who doesn't bond with others because he doesn't want to get hurt again like after he lost his wife

Character Developement
viviokorie17 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Personally i love the episodes with more character developement better than the ones that are filled with action (even though I love both) so this one did the Trick for me. For all the people complaining about ,the tragic Rick' is an easy fallback for the writers, I couldn't disagree more. I just love how the show slowly shifts from rick being an genuis asshole who still get's adored and admired by all the other characters to him being alone because of his behaviour. All that around a simple toilet was genuis.

The supplot was okay

A message to Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland...
kimhardy27 November 2019
Guys!! You got this!! ... we are already fans of the show! You don't have to try so hard. The pacing in the first three episodes of season 4 seems way off. The timing just isn't right. You have lost something along the way and a lot of this season is starting to feel like a forgettable mess. I feel it has something to do with the pacing. Yes I appreciate your ingenuity and quick witted jokes. But the fine line that was so effortlessly tip toed in the last seasons seems way over stepped. You must feel a tremendous amount of pressure to please the fans and get it right but in that pursuit you seem to been losing your cool.. chill our a bit. Let the scenes breath a little more. We love and trust your work. There are some amazing ideas and things happening in season 4 but so far it feels artificial and not art ultimately. I'll keep believing and hopefully the dust will settle.

All this caused by pooping
ericstevenson19 November 2019
I'm probably just so happy to see the show back after literally years. This episode features Rick finding out who took a poop in his private toilet. I know how dumb that sounds, but it's still really funny. As usual, we get tons of jokes per minute. This is such an easy show to quote. Anyway, Morty goes on his own adventure with his dad.

Summer gets an app that pairs you with people. It's really fun seeing these stories happening everywhere. They do manage to make them all tied together fairly well in the end. I understand the title pun now. I really do feel bad for Rick at the end. Well, he should have watched himself better. ****

Worst episode so far all seasons included
thibault-li19 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First time I'm really disappointed of this TV serie.

First thing that bothers me is the characters' psychology. To sum up, there's a mother and daughter fight who comes out of nowhere, people fall in love, then breakup or divorce in the space of a few seconds.

Second thing is the plot. Rick's storyline is gross (sorry for people who were eating while watching) and also has a lot of incoherences : Why would Rick need to travel so far to find a quiet place ? Why didn't he secure the seat in the first place to prevent intrusions ?

The dating app and the aliens master plan are totally WTF and the Morty/Jerry and Summer/Beth duos bring nothing except the fact that now Morty & Summer disrespect their parents. Just like the previous episode, there's a ton of gadgets, aliens, robots and stuff but it doesn't compensate for the weakness of the concepts.

Not really sold on S4
cristiadu25 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I love most episodes (not really a fan of the Vindicators one, I feel the narrative was a bit weak on that one) until S4. And well, S4 is not terrible, but is not great either. The two episodes that were released until now were a bit in the weaker end of comedy and waaaaaaaay weak end on the "drama" part of this whole thing.

I mean, even S4E2, which has its "emotion" just felt rushed. I was never really sold on the guy that died (which I don't even remember the name, to see how forgettable that character was) being a friend with Rick because they just talked like in 2 to 3 instances on the episode. It felt rushed, not giving us enough time to care about that character before he died and Rick got sad. Also, I have a hard time caring about Rick on S4 because he is sounding like a whinny little baby on some occasions.
