Great Story and gameplay

One of the best thing of this game is fact that you don't really know what to do or where to go, there is no path, you most learn everything by yourself and learn from your mistakes, is amazing how the story develops as your manage to survive exploring the jungle.

Not for the faint of heart

Pros: This game is very challenging! (Which I love because games are just too easy these days) It's not like any other survival games in the sense that you have to keep track of every vital, including fat, carbs, and protein intake, sleepiness, and even sanity. I started out on story mode (walk in the park mode) which I recommend for new players. I don't know if this is a spoiler, but the story is pretty short and you can honestly beat it in an hour on tourist mode if you just want the trophies. But the real king of the jungle, is survival mode. I'd say this game is comparable to "The Long Dark" and "The Forest" with more complex mechanics/survival and less fighting cannibals. The world is beautiful, you are in the middle of the Amazon rainforest filled with life, and dangers of course. Let's talk about the combat and hunting. There is combat against Amazonian tribes, which are pretty uncommon and usually in small numbers, but oh boy are they a trick to kill. This can be turned off in the custom mode menu, which won't ruin trophy progress or multiplayer. Hunting is great in this game, animals are literally everywhere and you won't be searching for one long.(8/10). Now for building, it is very very slow, but very rewarding and gives you a "Primitive Technology" feeling instead of being able to throw up a mansion in the middle of the rainforest like other survival video games.(7/10). The survival aspect in this game is very very realistic. You can contract disease, pick up ring worm from sleeping in dirty places, leeches from dirty water, break bones, get swarmed by bees and start swelling, and even keeping your guy sane so he doesn't start seeing things that aren't there (yes that's a feature and it's quite frightening.) And of course the basics like needing to sleep, eat, and drink every now and than. (10/10 for survival.)

CONS: Holy h-ll this game is hard. I beat the story in about 4-5 hours and I died probably 15 times from snakes. Unlike the forest, the main threat is not other humans, it is the wildlife, which I look at as a pro but it can get annoying fast when you are out of meds and keep getting bit by a rattler, leaving you about 3 minutes to find meds until certain death. The saving is just like The forest, you have to build a shelter or find a little calendar to pop a save (story mode only.) Which is fine don't get me wrong, until what happened to me happens to you. I was on the last stage of the story (I'll try to avoid spoilers) and I decided to do a couple trophy hunts before I finished the game because the were accessible. First I wanted to find the cure, which calls for a poison dart frog to be mixed in a lab close to the final stage of the game, this is optional for the good ending. I picked it up, started taking poison damage, and ran it to the lab. I was fine and my health was still plentiful but I didn't know I needed painkillers. Now this is where I messed up. I saved the game right after I did this. So yeah I died and respawned probably 20 times trying to find larva and tobacco to cure my guy, which ended up in me restarting the game completely. "Death loops" in this game are incredibly common and you have to be pretty smart about saving the game. Also if your on console, it is almost unplayable because the crafting was made for a keyboard and mouse. That's about it for cons.

All in all, this game is a great challenge for anyone. If you are struggling with this game, try it out on tourist or walk in the park mode until you're comfortable with the game because I promise it is worth the play. (9/10)

Why people play this game?

This one of the worst games i've ever played. The crafting menu is so bad. You permanently die because of everything. Your health go down while you so sleep. And and and ...i'm out of here.
