Suraj is "something different" !!!
nambiaruveetilappu8 December 2019
From a simple comedy actor to a man of great acting skills. This movie is just another feather in Suraj's list of good movies. I saw this movie after watching 'Android Kunjappan'; the same combo of Shoubin and Suraj. Shoubin, meanwhile is a class actor, natural and close to calibers of one of the best in the industry.
Malayalam films are currently best in India! By far!

À beautiful and sensitive movie with brilliant actors like Sameer and Soubin in the lead. The same actors were also seen in Android Kunjappan. It was a sheer delight to watch the natural performances of all the actors. The theme is relevant and Eldho's forgiving and kind nature brings tears to our eyes.
feel-good movie

Good movie with a social message - (7.2)
sujith789_reviews22 April 2020
- Watched the movie in Netflix. Running time is under 2 hrs.
- Excellent acting by everyone especially Suraj and Soubin. I liked the performance of characters of Soubin's Mother and Wife.
- Excellent climax.
- Felt like movie could be little more tighter.
Must Watch Movie.

Capsule Review: Vikruthy (7 Stars)
nairtejas2 December 2019
Sampling the subject of online shaming (that was previously touched upon in Ashraf Hamza's Thamaasha), this poignant drama with a powerhouse performance by Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vikruthy (English: Prank) offers a commentary on how things can be when tasteless memes or trolling campaigns are started against people who have no idea about any of these things. It could be your security person who hasn't heard of Facebook or a daily wage worker who decided to take a nap on a reserved train berth. But more than the theme, Emcy Joseph's ordinary characters are what makes Vikruthy a pleasant experience, giving us enough to laugh and think about. While Soubin Shahir sleepwalked through the drama, Sudhi Koppa, Vincy Aloshious, and Irshad drive the vehicle forward with ample doses of 'naadan drama and comedy' which has defined Malayalam cinema in 2019. There's a lot of authenticity in how the film has been made. Though it could have struck gold had it shown the victor to be a careless guy who did what he does both for the fun without being apologetic. To borrow a line from a fellow Redditor, the final act by Venjaramoodu made me believe that he was really dumb. I would even go ahead and say that his performances in this drama and in Android Kunjappan (2019) can both be counted among the best of 2019. There's no doubt. Not even about how much this film works and makes you think and cry. It's a sweet little film and a definite contender for one of this 2019's best. TN.
A movie with a strong message who miss use social apps!!

Although there is a silly reason that causes some defamation to a person and his family, this movie clearly explains how to use social media esp. phones responsibly. Kudos to the makers who made a very sensible effort.
Story from a troll victim
SatiagoManez23 June 2020
The story revolves around a man who get mistakenly trolled for as a drunk passenger when he spends two sleepless nights straight looking after his baby girl in hospital.
Soubin keeps it simple and scores with all emotions of guilt and fear.
Strings of emotions plays all along the family especially with the father son relationship. Thought there was a moment when we doubt if people actually remembers to the extent shown in the movie, but the fact that the movie is based on real incident is a striking fact!

Warning: Spoilers
To make a movie on the abuse of social media, could have been done in a more impactful and realistic way rather than creating a sob story just for drama.
Wonder who's the real villain here? The guy who took the picture? Or the picture itself? Or the alleged drinking? The judgemental neighbours and friends? Or the so called trolls (btw how do you brand someone a troll?)? Or maybe social media itself? All of the above?
The main issue in the story here is that the character was snapped on a train presumably appearing drunk. Hmmm...Surely there are many more shocking incidents happening today that could have been used here to highlight the plight of those seriously trolled?! The trend portrayed in this hypocritical drivel is dangerous and unhealthy especially to those audiences targeted here - the youth, the layman and working classes.
This could have been a perfect setting to highlight any of those really serious issues and jolt people or at least create large scale impactful awareness.
So instead, you have a lot of hand wringing, helpless cry-at-the-drop-of-a-hat silly 60's style melodrama that is accompanied by an overbearing background score determined to try and squeeze out every single tear you have. In end you are exhausted and you may even hate yourself a little bit - perfect excuse to down a few drinks and that too preferably with your spouse or partner so you have a shoulder to cry on!
Stereotyped characters abound. All have tried to act well but no one has pushed the envelope here - to be fair, there were no such opportunities anywyay in the script.
All in all a dull uninspiring movie that had much more potential. Shame. Another wasted opportunity.

Has great performances and the movie is done or shot well. But the plot is very weak and exaggerated. Doesn feel real. Simple, why not the character plainly apologize publicly and move on instead of stretching the content ? Very weak story thats unable to connect or makes the audience wonder "this is so silly".
Beautiful Movie..

You rarely a see a realistic movie that will move you so much. It's socially relevant and very well executed. All the actors did a very a good job. One person stands out, that is Suraj. He is awesome in every possible way. The way he lived in the character will make you speechless.
Top-Class Storytelling...Heartfelt Performances

This Movie leaves a great social message which is the need of the hour.
Based on Real life characters. Heartfelt performances by all the actors involved..a special mention for Suraj and Soubin. These actors definitely stand out in World cinema.

Doesn't reach to its potential
vsppn30 January 2022
The movie spends ample of time to establish a story line but by the end turns out to be under whelming. Considering it is based on real story the movie fails to make bring sufficient awareness to understand human behavior on and because of social platform. It took a easy route of feel good factor and left out nuances that happened around the story in real life. Not a bad movie but felt disappointment that it didn't aim for anything more than easy road towards the end.
