Cloverfield follows five New Yorkers from the perspective of a hand-held video camera. The movie is exactly the length of a DV Tape and a sub-plot is established by showing bits and pieces of video previously recorded on the tape that is being recorded over. The movie starts as a monster of unknown origin destroys a building. As they go to investigate, parts of the building and the head of the Statue of Liberty come raining down. The movie follows their adventure trying to escape and save a friend, a love interest of the main character. Written by

7.4!? No wonder Hollywood keeps serving us up steaming piles of poop!
Did people rate this movie high because they felt sorry for the people in it? I don't get it. This movie was awful, poorly made, and just annoying. I hate movies where the only camera used is the stupid camcorder someone is holding. Like any other movie of this genre the camera shakes so bad when something is happening you have to close your eyes before you have a seizure. It's because of the success of these types of movies that Hollywood can put together a cheap $18,000 movie with a camcorder and virtually no special effects (because when the action hits they can just shake the camera), put it in theaters, and watch as all the monkeys show up and hand over their money. Has society become this brainless!? No wonder I can't get myself to spend $9 to go see a movie at the theaters anymore, the odds of being disappointed by another 'b-movie' is just too great.
