DC Comics February 2012 Solicitations

14 November 2011 2:00 PM, PST | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

We hold in our hands the covers for DC Comics this February. As a child of four can plainly see, these comics have been hermetically sealed in a Cgc 9.9 slab, and they’ve been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar under a giant stack of returned copies of Holy Terror since noon today.

What do we have worth noting? The new look of Darkseid, and we’re far enough into the new 52 books that it’s time for Batman to start crossing over in all of them. Plus Mara Jade, the red-haired assassin who fell in love with her blond-haired man she was sent to kill– oh, I’m sorry, that’s from Star Wars. This is Mera in a jade outfit. Our mistake.

Shall we? Surely!

As usual, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

Channel Guide: Flashpoint Gets Back To Basics On New Network

22 October 2011 1:01 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

At this point, the undying love yours truly has for the Canadian cop drama Flashpoint is more than known. The dynamics of its three-dimensional characters, the quality of its episode to episode stories as well as its season/series long arcs, the high standard of acting employed by both its regular and episode specific cast, all these things make for one of the best television experiences anyone can have. This week’s episode was especially important as it’s Flashpoint‘s first go around in the U.S. since leaving the airwaves of CBS for Ion. The episode did not dissapoint. Written by series creators Mark Ellis & Stephanie Morgenstern and directed by pilot director David Frazee (arguably the best of all the directors the series has had to date), “Grounded” follows the story of a group of hijackers who take control and forcibly ground an aircraft in an attempt to free a prison inmate via hostage negotation »

'Flashpoint's' Amy Jo Johnson having 'awesome' time as actress and mom

30 September 2011 11:43 AM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Amy Jo Johnson hasn't only gotten her longest series job yet from "Flashpoint," she's also gotten a new home.

The "Felicity" and "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" alum has had a run with the Canadian-made police drama enduring enough to see it switch American networks. After four cycles on CBS -- where it was used principally as summer programming -- the show moves in-season when first-run episodes resume Tuesday, Oct. 18, on Ion.

In continuing her role as hostage negotiation team member Julianna "Jules" Callaghan, the Cape Cod, Mass.-born Johnson has relocated with husband Olivier Giner and their almost-3-year-old daughter Francesca. They now live full-time in Toronto, where "Flashpoint" is filmed (and shown on its producing network, CTV).

"You know what's funny? I've never stayed on a show fully until its life has finished," Johnson tells Zap2it.  "I left 'Power Rangers' a few years into it, and I left »

Tom Cruise Thriller One Shot Adds Beauty Alexia Fast To Cast

26 September 2011 11:34 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Alexia Fast is the latest name added to the growing ensemble for One Shot, Christopher McQuarrie.s adaptation of the Lee Child novel that has cast Tom Cruise in the lead role of Jack Reacher, a seasoned military veteran turned homicide investigator. Fast, whose previous credits include the recent thriller Triple Dog and TV work on Flashpoint and Tin Man, will play Sandy, a beautiful but potentially treacherous character who will be used to dupe Cruise.s hero, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Not that Child.s fan base needs to be told that. They.ve propped the Reacher stories on a pedestal, and already know by heart the fact that One Shot follows the respected cop as he looks into a sniper assassination that involves the mudre of five random victims. That passion for the Reacher books also has fans up in arms over the casting of Cruise in »

Cast on TV in September and October

19 September 2011 4:04 PM, PDT | CapricaTV | See recent CapricaTV news »

Fall TV season starts tonight, with most major shows returning, so I am posting a quick list of some of the upcoming guest appearances and shows that involve Caprica's cast, writers and Bear McCreary. I have included a few appearances from Battlestar actors, too, that were announced in recent weeks and kind of hard to miss on different TV sites.

There are more than a few appearances missing from the list, mostly because there isn't even an approximate date or episode number attached to them yet - Alessandra Torresani in American Horror Story, Peter Wingfield in Sanctuary, Ben Cotton in The Secret Circle, Katee Sackhoff in The Big Bang Theory, Genevieve Buechner, Richard Harmon and Kacey Rohl in The Haunting Hour, Mike Dopud in Blue Mountain State, Aaron Douglas in Flashpoint, and probably a few others.

The list is posted below. A few updates first.

Greg’s 2011 Tiff Report: Day 6

14 September 2011 10:33 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Three films Tuesday so let's get right into it. Killer Joe, directed by William Friedkin. This is the same guy that directed The French Connection and The Exorcist. He may have had a few clunkers in recent history, but I had some hopes for this. Emile Hirsch plays a kid in Texas who owes a lot of money to the wrong people. With the help of his father and step-mother, he hires a crooked cop played by Matthew McConaughey to kill his mother for the insurance money. Since he planned on paying the cop after he gets the insurance money, McConaughey asks for Hirsch's teenage sister as a retainer. I didn't hate this movie, but it's probably the worst film I've seen so far this year. 90 seconds into the movie is a centre screen shot of Gina Gershon's hairy muff. Some people might like that. Some people might find that revolting. »
