Storyline

DCI Lewis and her team are on the scene quickly when a 19 year-old lad is stabbed just outside their local. The young man, Dwayne Kent, was out celebrating his birthday with his brother and others. He was an up and coming footballer that the papers referred to as the Golden Boy. He was found by his brother Lee just a few minutes after Dwayne had a run-in with three other young men who chased after him. It doesn't appear however that they were responsible. Dwayne was clearly living well beyond his means and seemed to own his own flat, which is news to his parents. False assumptions and mixed identities are key to solving the crime. Written by garykmcd

The truth about Dwayne
29 August 2011 | by See all my reviews

A promising young football player is found (by his own brother) stabbed in the middle of a street after a night out at the pub. CCTV footage that covers the area, but not that particular street, reveals that he had just been in a fight with three drunks who, seconds later, were running away from the scene. Further investigations by DCI Janine Lewis and her team indicate that the victim might not have been the clean-cut and trustworthy guy that everyone believed him to be.

I really like the title of this one, and the episode itself ain't bad either - in fact, it may be my favorite since "Up In Smoke". I did not predict the big plot twist at all, although it was right in front of me. I also enjoyed seeing Detective Lisa getting considerably more screen time than usual, after staying in the background for so long. And a bonus for football fans: a brief inside view of the Manchester City Stadium. *** out of 4.
