Jess' Women (2005)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Jess Franco was without question one of the greatest people you could ever interview since the man never gave a bad one. This 17-minute interview can be found on Blue Underground's release of 99 WOMEN and features the Spanish director talking about how the financing of the film came to be as well as many other subjects including the cast, the film becoming a hit in America and of course the XXX version that was released without his knowledge. Overall this is yet another highly entertaining featurette from director David Gregory who certainly is a wizard at these things. The film itself has never been one of my favorites from Franco but he certainly makes you want to go back and re-watch it. He goes into great detail about the cast members and especially Mercedes McCambridge, Herbert Lom and Maria Schell. He also talks about the alternate XXX version of the film that was made and even talks about one movie where hardcore shots were thrown in to make Christopher Lee seem like he was receiving oral sex. If you're a fan of Franco then this here is certainly something you'll want to check out.
