- The six remaining couples sing songs from the 70's or 80's genres, then the couple with the lowest score, combined from the judges scores and viewer votes, is eliminated.
- Host Grant Denyer introduced co-host Kate Ritchie, who was dressed in a navy Collette Dinnigan satin gown, the panel of judges, with the four regulars Marina Prior, James Valentine, Amanda Pelman and Ross Wilson being joined this week by guest judge Daryl Braithwaite, the house orchestra conducted by Chong Lim and the six remaining couples, who tonight would perform songs from the last two genres to be introduced this series, the 70's and the 80's. He then informed the viewers that the voting lines had now closed.
First up tonight were Olympic swimming champion Daniel Kowalski and his partner Kate Ceberano, who brought some fun into the show early, dressed in matching 80's outfits as they performed a sparkling rendition of "Walking On Sunshine". The judges commented that Daniel had become an entertainer, and admired the couples' joy, grace and ease. After Kate interviewed the couple in the green room, the judges revealed their scores - all five of them scored the couple 8 for a total of 40 points.
Next to take to the stage were a suave and statuesque Ernie Dingo and his theatrical partner Rachael Beck, who performed a stunning version of the classic 80's tune "Islands in the Stream". Ernie's on-stage comfort, harmonies and growth from previous weeks thrilled the judges. Marina scored them 8, James 8, Amanda 7, Ross 7 and Daryl 7, for a total of 37 points.
Performing next were All Saints actor Jolene Anderson and her theatrical partner David Campbell, who raised the bar with their rendition of Whitney Houston's dynamite 80's tune "All at Once" which dazzled both the audience and the judges, who commended their brave effort, feeling that the It Takes Two diva had given them their first goose bumps of the night. Marina scored them 9, James 9, Amanda 10, Ross 9 and Daryl 8, for a total of 45 points.
Home and Away actor Bobby Morley and his soul partner Jade Macrae were the next to step up to the microphone to perform Toto's classic 70's anthem "Hold the Line". The judges were impressed by the continuation of their great dramatic and smouldering chemistry as well as the talent that Bobby has been shining out each week. Marina scored them 8, James 7, Amanda 8, Ross 7 and Daryl 7, for a total of 37 points.
Taking to the stage next were radio personality Jo Stanley and her partner, best-selling artist Anthony Callea, who performed a coordinated and smooth rendition of the 70's classic ABBA song S.O.S. The energy, the couple's sense of fun and their great choreography all impressed the judges. Marina scored them 9, James 8, Amanda 8, Ross 7 and Daryl 8, for a total of 40 points.
The last couple to hit the stage were environmental businesswoman Mimi Macpherson and her opera partner David Hobson, who performed a lively rendition of the 80's favourite Would I Lie To You by the Eurythmics. The judges remarked that Mimi's performance was strong and fantastic, and that she was the series' rock chick. All five judges scored them 7, for a total of 35 points.
While the couples waited for their moment of truth, guest judge Daryl Braithwaite performed live and exclusive as a recognition of his contribution to the Australian music industry.
Then the six couples returned to the stage once more to find out who would be the next to go. The hosts first revealed the safe couples, who had impressed the judges and viewers enough to be placed in the top four based on a combination of the judges' scores and the viewers' votes. The two remaining couples had to wait for a few more nail-biting moments before it was announced that Bobby and Jade were leaving tonight.
Grant revealed that next week, the five remaining couples would perform a song from one of the genres that they haven't previously tackled, with songs by Marvin Gay & Diana Ross, Dusty Springfield, R. Kelly and Goanna among those to feature next week. He announced that the voting lines were open before Bobby and Jade ended the show with a reprise of their earlier performance.
