Why original cast members are no longer in show?
25 March 2009 | by See all my reviews

Am I correct the old cast ie Chelsea Handler, Leah Remini, Jenny McCarthy, Jane Curtin, Eileen Galindo, Angelo Pagan et al are no longer connected with the show??!! If so, what idiot made that decision!! The webisode was the funniest, most original comedy I've seen in years - on a par with Everyone Loves Raymond - not a single bad performance in any episode I saw - and I'm a totally conservative insurance defense lawyer. I stumbled across a "new" episode and it sucked!! Some entertainment investing types need to pool $$$$ and get the original back in production!! Wasn't some cosmetic company sponsoring the original setup? I really think Galindo and Pagan could carry a series themselves with continued excellent writing and supporting cast - by no means a criticism of Handler et al - they're tremendous!! Jenny McCarthy and Chelsea Handler as sisters were absolutely priceless!! The scene where Handler is getting ready for the date with the guy with kids is hilarious thanks to Galindo - and the date itself was outstanding - the guy who played the Dad nailed the charades scene! The camping scene with Pagan and Remini was hilarious and where did they get those cute kids who could actually do the over the top acting called for?? The mother-in-law sequence in the grocery store with Chelsea - unbelievably funny! Why was this series successful in my view? OK, the target audience may well have been mothers but I actually enjoyed the quality of the writing, characterizations and the acting of the original crew. I do have two young daughters and I probably have more than the average share of parenting responsibility than the typical American dad so I could relate to the scenarios. But three issues come to mind: 1) the shows were different/original; 2) the writing/acting was so well done; and 3) the show caught my funny bone - some shows can be funny but don't penetrate - this show did.

How can copies of the original series be purchased/downloaded?
