Say Hello from the other side with the new Flatliners sequel trailer

  • HeyUGuys
Author: Jon Lyus

Stick this one firmly in the ‘We didn’t really ask for another sequel/remake/reboot to Flatliners but thanks all the same’ camp – It’s a crowded arena to be sure. If this new version was honestly marketed as having nothing to do with the original 90s film then it might spark a little more interest. Making it a sequel seems hoist it unnecessarily to a not-very-well remembered original which hasn’t exactly become a pop cultural icon.

Still, that’s the movie-making game right now. And throw a few thousand volts through us! This new trailer makes this generations’ dalliance with the afterlife look like fun. The new Flatliners is directed by The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s Niels Arden Oplev and stars Ellen Page, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, Diego Luna, Kiersey Clemons, all of whom express the requisite arrogance and remorse their parts demand.

Christmas Forecast: 'Star Wars' Second Weekend Faces Five New Wide Releases

Christmas Forecast: 'Star Wars' Second Weekend Faces Five New Wide Releases
Once again Star Wars: The Force Awakens is poised to break even more box office records over Christmas weekend. However, after five days of record-breaking activity it's this holiday season's new wide, expanding and limited releases that could prove equally interesting. Four new films are releasing in 2,800+ theaters this weekend with Daddy's Home the widest release of the lot at 3,271 theaters. Looking back over the years this has been a prime weekend for new releases, begging the question as to whether Star Wars steals eyeballs or if it simply does its thing while the other titles play as they normally would. Star Wars will most certainly take the weekend top spot with a second weekend well above $100 million. We've been tracking it's daily performance in comparison to Avatar as its 33.8% Monday drop matched that of the domestic and worldwide box office champ. Tuesday's 6.85% drop was a little higher than Avatar's 1.83% drop,

‘Star Wars’ in 1977: How the Saga Began With That ‘Old Desert Rat’ Obi-Wan Kenobi

‘Star Wars’ in 1977: How the Saga Began With That ‘Old Desert Rat’ Obi-Wan Kenobi
The frenzy is intense for the Dec. 18 debut of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” so it’s strange to realize that not so long ago, in a galaxy not very far away, people had no idea what “Star Wars” was.

On March 24, 1976, Variety reported that George Lucas had begun filming an $8 million sci-fi fantasy film for 20th Century Fox in Tunisia. Alec Guinness had been set to play “a bearded old desert rat.” While Obi-Wan might balk at that description, the story continued, “The cast will also include three large roles for relatively unknown young performers, who haven’t yet been announced.”

A few weeks later, on April 7, the paper said that 23-year-old Mark Hamill would make his film debut as Luke Starkiller — that was before the character’s name change — in “the outer-space comedy-adventure.” And on May 10, Harrison Ford was announced as playing Han Solo, “a tough James Dean

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Ming-Na Wen Previews 'Devastating' Origin of 'The Cavalry,' Coulson's 'Massive' New Secrets
For a full two years, Ming-Na Wen could only wonder why her character on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had earned the nickname “The Cavalry” – and why hearing that moniker was invariably met with a disapproving glare.

“Since the beginning, I had to create my own ideas and my own stories [behind the nickname],” the actress told TVLine before heading out to the Los Angeles screening of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, “because they wouldn’t tell me anything!”

Kevin James is '2 Blart 2 Furious' in Timely 'Mall Cop' Sequel Promo

With Furious 7 arriving in just a couple days, thankfully Sony Pictures has delivered a new promo for Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 in order to catch all that sweet crossover revenue from those who love crazy action with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker as well as those who love awful slapstick humor from Kevin James. It seems like this latest tease for the comedy sequel, touted as 2 Blart 2 Furious, was created just for fun, and doesn't actually feature any footage from the movie, but I'm not sure. Anyway, it features James trying to shut down some street racing, and then he's forced to do some segway tricks before he screws up yet again. Here's the 2 Blart 2 Furious promo for Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 from Sony Pictures: You can still watch the previous trailer for Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 right here.
