Last Chance Harvey is based on a script by English filmmaker Joel Hopkins, who also directed the movie.
Throughout the movie, Kate is seen reading or just carrying a paperback book. The cover shows that the author is one Anita Harmon. The title appears to be something like A Wayward Note. Since neither the author nor the book are important to the plot, they were made up for the movie rather than using a real book and then having to secure and pay for the rights.
Viewers who have noticed this reversal suggest that the reason for a suit for the wedding and a formal for the reception is because of the nature of the wedding and the reception. The wedding was a modest morning affair at which a suit was appropriate. The reception was held at the Grosvenor House, ritzy, elegant, and formal, a setting in which her tea-length dress would have been too plain.
