Warning don't read unless seen episode.

This is the last in the Black Moon clan arc, it's all coming down to the wire and this is of course Dimande is the last on the list. The only bad thing about the episode is the fact that Sailor Moon falls for the same trick twice, seriously why doesn't she have a backup weapon, so she could've stabbed that third eye of Dimande's, or let alone just don't look at him at all. I know the stakes needed to be upped for her in the conflict but there are better ways to do it.

Anyway, with that little quibble out of the way let's get down to business. The character Dimande I never felt was never truly bad, the problem with him is that he's in a bad state of desperation. From his desire for his people to immigrate and live on Earth but also to love another. And of course, we all know desperation can be a dangerous thing as this unfortunately lets him become susceptible to manipulation and mental poisoning.

The conflict between Sailor Moon and Dimande is different as it's a battle of wills, which I don't mind as it's something different and feels right for the story. We see Dimande trying to bend Sailor Moon will with his third eye power; you could say this, and the scheme is slightly similar in season one with Beryl was also trying to steal Marmou's love and turn against Usagi and his allies. Just like Beryl he wrongfully thinks he can short cut his way to love as this power he's been granted has put him on a high thinking it can fulfill all his deepest desires. But this is incorrect at best as power alone has its limits for can get you things but mainly in materialism, in matters of the heat it's an impossibility, because the heart and feelings with it aren't of materialism but nature.

Really like suspense as we see Sailor Moon getting seduced and just falling under the spell, but of course we see her free will and love for Mamoru prevails. That was always the main thing I really liked about Usagi/Sailor Moon is how both of those things are unbreakable and indomitable, as they should be with anyone that has a significant other, they truly love, along with building a strong will of their own to live life and make their own decisions. Dimande of course presses on, but it does him no good as he finds this out and that the whole time, he was only deluding himself. Even if Dimande managed to succeed with his power, it would be an empty victory because he would have Usagi in body but not in soul, he would always know that it's himself control her like a puppet and that's not real love.

Sailor Moon uses her other power which is of course the simple power of reason, which I like showing how superpowers and magic aren't the only tools to solve problems. From what Sailor Moon says to him this causes Dimande to take a step back and think and from this we then see Dimande then realize he's been played for the sucker he let himself become.

This whole story is bittersweet in a way, despite giving you a good feeling it's also tragic, because even though Dimande does the right thing in the end it was too late as he lost two people in his life from Esmerlde whom he could have had a future with; but also, Saphir his brother whom he should kept his trust and listen to. The deaths of both of them he could of prevented had he listened and trusted them a little better but most of all himself; if could of all prevent the whole war from happening. As I said he does do the right thing as he protects Sailor Moon and allows her to take him his people, but he also pays the price because he let himself listen and trusted the wrong person for too long. There is also some dark truth to it as sometimes persuasion from the wrong person can ignite the biggest conflicts and tragedies.

The whole episode does have good messages from giving our trust to the right people and not being so quick with trust. It's true when it comes to forming connections it means taking out chances with strangers, but we must not do this too easily because sometimes the person that may say all the right things doesn't necessarily mean they do the right things or are even good. And, to always do what is right, even when things are at their darkest or time is running out, we still must try to do the right thing otherwise we really are going to lose everything including ourselves.

True love, trust and friendship can cut and shine like a diamond in the sky.
