Anupam Kher and Sanjay Gupta get together after 19 years
The prolific director Sanjay Gupta and the super-prolific actor Anupam Kher are all set to work together after 19 years.

Apparently Anupam was the ideal choice for a pivotal role in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's comeback film Jazbaa which Gupta is going to direct from January.

Says Sanjay Gupta, "It's a role only Anupam can play. I had worked with him 19 years ago in the second film of my career Ram Shastra. After that there was no solid opportunity to direct Anupam. So I am really looking forward to working with him again. Incidentally we had launched Anupam's son Sikandar as a leading man in Woodstock Villa."

With Anupam joining the cast the actors now on board for Jazbaa include Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Irrfan Khan and John Abraham in a guest appearance.

No producer, no star wanted to touch “Shahid”: Hansal Mehta
Hansal Mehta’s latest film Shahid, based on the life of slain human rights activist and lawyer Shahid Azmi, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Hansal, who has made films like Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar!! (2000), Chhal (2002), Dus Kahaniyaan (2007) and Woodstock Villa (2008) before, speaks about his career trajectory, his inspiration to make Shahid, and his tough journey with the film:

What is Shahid about?

Shahid is based on the remarkable journey of human rights lawyer / activist Shahid Azmi. It is a very personal account of an inspiring life tragically cut short. As Cameron Bailey of Tiff describes very beautifully on the Tiff website “it marries elements of political thriller, personal biography and romantic tragedy while being a courtroom drama at its core.”

What inspired you to make a film on the life of Shahid Azmi?

I was out of the country for nearly 3 years between 1990 and 1993. When I returned

5 years after Zinda, it is John again for Sanjay Gupta

5 years after Zinda, it is John again for Sanjay Gupta
John Abraham is the chosen one by Sanjay Gupta for his comeback film. The actor has been signed up for an action thriller which would be going on floors soon. This would also serve as a reunion for Sanjay Gupta and John Abraham who had last worked together in Zinda (2006). "For quite some time, Sanjay has been deciding on the starcast for his next multi-starrer. In fact this new action thriller that he would be directing is being pitched as the 'baap of all action entertainers' that have ever come out of Bollywood. It's a multi starrer and while there are number of other actors who are in the film, John is a prominent name to be on board", says a source closely attached to the film. After Zinda, Sanjay Gupta went on a sabbatical for five years and only shot for one of the short stories in Dus Kahaniyaan.

"Mika Singh: The Mauja Hi Mauja gabroo talks about his journey and his hits"

With Ibn-e-batuta (Ishqiya) and Apni to jaise taise (Housefull) under his belt, Mika Singh has added two more hits to his chartbuster cap. In a candid conversation with Screen, we get acquainted with the musical maverick Playback singing seems to be a part-time occupation for you despite your high hit percentage. Why is that? Our entire family back in Punjab has been into music as a full-time occupation that brooks no compromise. When I came to Mumbai it was after three years of planning and a lot of hard work. I am from a school that believes in well-trained complete musicians who compose as well as sing. It is thus necessary to learn not just formal vocal music but also as many instruments as possible - I learnt 50 instruments so that as a composer I know their strengths and zones and am aware of what orchestration I will need for any song.
