Oh dear lord...
paul_haakonsen21 July 2021
Sure, when I sat down to watch the 2021 sci-fi horror "Future Fear" (aka "Stellanomicon: Future Fear"), I must admit that I wasn't really sure what to expect here. I hadn't even heard about the movie prior to getting to sit down to watch it. I have to say, though, that I was suckered in by the movie's cover.

And let me just say that this was bad. Really, really bad. The storyline felt like it was written by a pre-teen as a term paper. It was just ludicrous that writer and director Ken May managed to churn out something as ridiculous as "Future Fear" turned out to be.

I am sure that the idea was well-meant and that the concept sounded great in the head of writer and director, but the transition from idea to screen was just horrible.

The special effects in the movie were awful to look at. It felt as if they didn't even bother with attempting to make it look realistic. And how such effects get a clearance stamp in post-production is just beyond my comprehension.

The acting in "Future Fear" was every bit as wooden, rigid and cringe-worthy as the rest of the movie. So at least they were on point with that.

If you enjoy sci-fi horror movies, don't waste your time, money or effort on this one. There are far, far better movies out there in the sci-fi horror genre.

I am rating "Future Fear" a generous two out of ten stars. At least they tried, I suppose. And I bet they had fun making this cheesy movie. But in terms of it being an entertaining or enjoyable movie, then it was just a swing and a miss.

I'm so jealous

I'm jealous! I said it!

Never did I ever imagined funding is available to make this level of crap in film!

How did May do it? Who does he know?

Calling this a scifi film is like calling a seahorse a rabbit.

High schoolers write, produce and direct better knock-knock jokes than this.

Go back to flipping burgers. PLEASE!

Who's my little Black Widow
nogodnomasters18 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Klik (Kaylith Von Kola) discovers an old computer inside a cardboard room with a rubber prop. She accesses various stories about their past (our future) including a pandemic and spiders on Mars operating in their Red Light district killing Johns.

The film was a low budget, plastic guns, confused non-entertaining mess designed to show off Kaylith's legs.

Guide: F-word. Sex. No nudity.

Sci fi anthology

Warning: Spoilers
In the distant future...

The distant future...

The humans are dead, we used poisonous gases and we poisoned their asses.

But seriously, Flight of the Conchords lyrics aside, the humans have been destroyed by aliens, yet a female archaeologist survives. As she hides within the ruins of a long-extinct civilization, she finds the technology that just may help her make it out alive.

Ken May (VHS Violence, VHS Violence II: VHS and KILL) wrote, directed, produced, did the cinematography and acted in this film, which also has Raven Ebner as Corviid, Otis Johnson (who directed Welcome to the Grindhaus!) as Agent 23, Erin Reingrover as Commander Mark and Kaylith Von Kola as Klik.

This is an anthology film as well, telling smaller stories within that narrative framework. It's low budget with high science fiction ideas, so if that's your thing, you know exactly what to expect.

Sci Fi shor stories...some better than others
DiesIraeComing17 December 2022
I watch a lot of super low budget films and find sci-fi and horror can still be entertaining at the zero budget level. Because an idea, even with poor special effects, is still interesting to me.

One or two of the segments are student grade, but a couple of the others had something to say and I appreciated that. The "Isolation" short, in particular, had something to say that will probably ensure that filmmaker won't be working in Hollywood any time soon. But that's exactly the kind of thing that makes watching these small independent films worthwhile. They say things the big boys won't/can't say.

Cinematography and production values are hit and miss, but if you're the kind of person who watches low budget indie sci fi/horror, hoping to find humor or alternative world views, then you might enjoy this.

Overall, it's probably a 3 star effort, but I'm adding two stars out of support for the higher effort segments that took risks.

Sort of a Showcase
bemyfriend-401848 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Some movies are sort of a showcase. Everyone must start somewhere, when trying to break into show business. You can try to get hired by a major studio, or go the indie route. This film is the latter. It is a showcase of vignettes, by all involved; rather than a coherent, cohesive story. Some of the special effects are good; and some of the female actresses are beautiful and athletic. Seen on Tubi, the free streaming site; which has many more films like this, and some which are much better. Tubi now has live TV.

Seriously ?.

I've watched a lot of grade C movies in my time, and some of them managed to be amusing (intentionally or otherwise), or mildly entertaining in some way. This is not one of those. This movie is so bad it's difficult to articulate exactly how bad it is.

There's not a single redeeming quality. Concept, story (only charitably could you say there's a coherent story here), production, script, acting....so bad none of the people responsible for these should ever be permitted to work in the industry again. Forget the more refined aspects of movie-making, such as continuity, editing, effects...they're nonexistent. I can't believe anyone would have even funded this project it's so bad.

WTF
fhcygrg23 March 2022
Easily the worst film ever. I could've made a better movie in my backyard starring myself, my wife, my 2 sons and my dog. How the hell is this on Netflix?! No amount of me telling you how bad this movie is can justify how bad this slop is. Do yourself a favor. Go watch paint dry instead.

Stopped after 5 mins
dodo-972683 December 2023
No need to watch the entire movie.

5 minutes of it was enough to understand how poorly the actors are. The editing is terrible. Everything is made of plastic and you can clearly see it. I try to watch some other scenes in the movie to see if it was about to be better, but you can bet your salary it is not. It seems to get worse and worse. This ain't a movie, this is a primary school long métrage.

Very bad.

If you want to waste your precious with a good apocalyptic movie, there are plenty of them. I strongly recommand anything but this one. I am pretty sure my deaf dog can make a better movie, and can act way better than these actors.

Surprisingly great!
scythe00030 July 2021
Considering this movie had zero budget, and was mostly done during a global pandemic, it's really well done! The various segments are interesting, the acting is quite good, and the special effects really sell the scenes. I'd be very interested to see more of these.
