7 September 2012 10:45 AM, PDT | Fandango | See recent Fandango news »

Up until now, the Catching Fire casting announcements have pretty much featured amateur actors that few people had heard of. One of the key roles that was still open was Beetee, the District 3 electronics expert who earns the nickname Volts and figures prominently in the second book. Critically acclaimed actor Jeffrey Wright has snagged that role and while the name might not immediately jump out at you, his face is certainly one that you have seen before, most recently in Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, The Ides of March and Source Code. He also starred as Felix Leiter in the last James Bond film Quantum of Solace and portrayed Muddy Waters in Cadillac Records. Beyoncé plans to direct and star in documentary about her own life

Singer and star of Dreamgirls is reportedly seeking film studio partners for what would be her feature directorial debut

Beyoncé plans to direct a documentary about her own life. The singer and her representatives are reportedly peddling the project to movie studios, seeking partners for what would be her feature directorial debut.

For now, the film is just a proposal. According to the La Times, Beyoncé and her agency, ICM, have been taking 20 minutes of footage around Hollywood – selling the idea of a music doc directed by its star, offering unprecedented access. The movie would reportedly mix concert footage with confessional interviews, but it is not clear whether the 30-year-old star plans to focus on her whole life or just a segment of it. The singer previously appeared in 2011's TV documentary Beyoncé: Year of 4, which highlighted her most recent, fourth, studio album.

Beyonce Steps Behind the Camera for Documentary About Herself

1 August 2012 4:37 PM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

With Justin Bieber succeeding and Katy Perry recently stumbling, it seems as though every major pop star wants to take a stab at putting themselves up on the big screen. But rarely, do they attempt to do it themselves. La Times reports that Beyonce Knowles is set to change things up and she’s already underway on creating documentary about herself, taking the reigns as producer and as director.

The film, which is being shopped around to studios now, follows the entertainment icon with a combination of some concert performances, as well as confessional interviews. One can expect it touches on her busy recent years, including the relationship with her husband Jay-z, their daughter, chart-topping albums and even discussions of her potential next foray into the narrative feature film scene, with Clint Eastwood‘s A Star Is Born. At least this would give her some practice for when that moment comes, »
