After the body of a man is found in a park, the detectives go to his home looking for his wife to break the news to her. But the man's parents say his wife was with him on their walk, and is nine months pregnant. As the case widens, suspects include a woman who recently endured a still born birth, the missing woman's ex-lover, and a man who may have picked her up for a tryst on his yacht. Meanwhile the case brings up painful memories for Boxer, who lost a baby a few years before. Written by Ron Kerrigan <mvg@whidbey.com>
The girls seek out a 9-months pregnant woman who has disappeared at the same time her husband is murdered. The episode gets a bit convoluted, although it becomes pretty clear about halfway through just what is what and who is who. Angie Harmon continues to carry this lightweight crime series, riffing on the "Crossing Jordan" title character played by lookalike model/actress and fellow L&O alumna, Jill Hennessey. Harmon is a pleasure to watch in action, and even gets to smack around and yell at a suspect in this episode. It appears the writers were influenced by the Scott Peterson case, where a woman carrying a 9-month fetus went missing. Only the ending here isn't as tragic.
