In this episode, Ned, Chuck, Emerson, and Olive investigate the murder of a dog breeder who had four wives. One of whom is responsible for his death. There's also a rival breeder who wants to clone Bubblegum, the dog that the original dog breeder made from each of the dogs individually owned by each of the wives. Meanwhile, Ned explores his feelings for Chuck and Olive after Olive had kissed him in a previous episode...Another wonderful episode of "Pushing Daises" that explores jealousy and the various ways that love touches certain characters. Nice to see Emerson explore the feelings he has for one of the four wives, in this case Simone, while still trying to do his duty (even though his purposes are usually monetary). Loved Olive, in interviewing first wife Hilary, passing off Digby as "Pickle". Great use of dialogue, as usual, though some of it goes so fast I have to rewind to catch some of it clearly. If the writer's strike doesn't end soon, the next three episodes that are set to run may be the last of this season. I just hope they do well enough in the ratings to warrant a renewal next fall. Kudos to everyone at "Pushing Daises".

This week's case sounds as if it should be easy to solve; when Ned
wakes a dead dog breeder, Harold Hundin, he is told that his wife gave
him his morning coffee and that coffee had the distinctive almond taste
of cyanide: case closed... or it would be if he wasn't a polygamist
with four wives! With four wives to interview Ned; Emerson, Chuck and
Olive visit one each but that hardly helps; each wife claims to have
given him his morning coffee. Of course it is possible that none of the
wives actually put the cyanide in the coffee. Rival dog breeder
Ramsfeld Snuppy had a motive; Harold Hundin had created a crossbreed
that he believed would be the ultimate pet dog; now Ramsfeld was
offering them for sale. Away from the mystery Ned is still coming to
terms with the kiss he shared with Olive in the previous episode; even
having a dream in which it appears that Chuck can now touch him; but
after shedding her clothes takes off her skin to reveal Olive!
Once again 'Pushing Daisies' provides quirky entertainment; the mystery
was light but a lot of fun; I loved how the dead man was initially
thought to have been stabbed as, after dropping his flask of poisoned
coffee, he repeatedly slipped onto a knife-handled brush! The regular
cast put in their usual fine performances and the guest stars were good
to; I particularly liked Christine Adams's performance as wife number
three, Simone Hundin, the dog behaviour expert whose canine skills seem
to work just as well on Emerson. One can't help but feel sorry for Ned;
unable to touch the woman he loves and not wanting to touch the woman
who loves him. Over all another fun episode with an entertaining
mystery and some good character development for Ned, Chuck and Olive.

While a sub-par episode of "Pushing Daisies" is still great and worth
watching, I just felt this one was a bit weak. I dunno...maybe you will
or won't agree.
The show begins with Joel McHale being murdered (not a bad thing, as I
always found his shtick on E! a bit annoying)--so at least it starts
well. When Emerson and Ned revive him to try to solve the killing (and
collect the reward), the dead man says his wife did it. No problem,
right?! Well, it turned out he lived in a polygamous living arrangement
and there were FOUR potential suspects! So, Olive(?), Ned, Chuck and
Emerson all separately interview the wives to determine the killer. But
before it all gets solved, another victim turns up--and it's only at a
funeral that they're able to wrap it all up.
So why wasn't I thrilled about the show? Well, the plot seemed even
more contrived than normal AND the reason for the murders seemed pretty
lame. Still, it's very watchable AND you get to see Ned beat up a lady!
