Quotes

[last lines]
Ned: You're the only one for me.
Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles: I know you feel that way now, but there are things you want... there are things we both want.
Ned: Oh, everyone wants stuff. We wake up, everyday with a list of wishes a mile long and maybe we spend our lives trying to make those wishes come true, but just because we want them doesn't mean we need them to be happy.
Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles: What do you need to be happy?
Ned: You.

The wife did it... but which one?!
18 February 2012 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

This week's case sounds as if it should be easy to solve; when Ned wakes a dead dog breeder, Harold Hundin, he is told that his wife gave him his morning coffee and that coffee had the distinctive almond taste of cyanide: case closed... or it would be if he wasn't a polygamist with four wives! With four wives to interview Ned; Emerson, Chuck and Olive visit one each but that hardly helps; each wife claims to have given him his morning coffee. Of course it is possible that none of the wives actually put the cyanide in the coffee. Rival dog breeder Ramsfeld Snuppy had a motive; Harold Hundin had created a crossbreed that he believed would be the ultimate pet dog; now Ramsfeld was offering them for sale. Away from the mystery Ned is still coming to terms with the kiss he shared with Olive in the previous episode; even having a dream in which it appears that Chuck can now touch him; but after shedding her clothes takes off her skin to reveal Olive!

Once again 'Pushing Daisies' provides quirky entertainment; the mystery was light but a lot of fun; I loved how the dead man was initially thought to have been stabbed as, after dropping his flask of poisoned coffee, he repeatedly slipped onto a knife-handled brush! The regular cast put in their usual fine performances and the guest stars were good to; I particularly liked Christine Adams's performance as wife number three, Simone Hundin, the dog behaviour expert whose canine skills seem to work just as well on Emerson. One can't help but feel sorry for Ned; unable to touch the woman he loves and not wanting to touch the woman who loves him. Over all another fun episode with an entertaining mystery and some good character development for Ned, Chuck and Olive.
