The federal government asks for Blake's assistance finding evidence to defend a wrongful death lawsuit filed against the United States when a blind woman is trampled to death by a stampeding her of cattle that Shoshone Indians couldn't control. At the same time, one of the Indians asks Blake's help finding his father, who went missing after the stampede. Blake turns up evidence that the stampede and the old man's disappearance were part of the same plot.
