He got it all a** backwards
kapelusznik188 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
****SPOILERS**** While pulling off a jewelry heist where he knocked out the security guard,William Schallert, that netted him less then $500.00 mostly in custom jewelry Vic Tally,Edwin Max, is spotted by this clown Tim Connors, Jummie Dundee, from the theater next door while on his coffee break. Tally, a career criminal, is now terrified that he'll be identified and thus arrested together with his partner in the heist Annie Weber,Vera Marshe, for the crime. With the police headed by Sgt.Krone, played by a pre M Squad Let. Frank Ballinger Lee Marvin, on the case a mindless and out of his mind Tally in order to prevent capture goes from the frying pan into the fire by murdering the only person who can connect him to the robbery the clown Tim Connors! That increasing the charges against him if captures together with Annie Weber from petty robbery and assault to 1st degree murder!

As Sgt. Krone soon discovered that in trying to avoid arrest Tally overlooked one fact that in the end would end up putting him on death row. And that was that Tim Connors was in no way able to identify him and thus prevent him from pulling off the prefect crime. But in Tally murderously overreacting and not blowing town together with Annie Weber he gave the police all the rope they needed to hang him with!

****SPOILERS**** The simple fact that Tim Connors was doing a duel role in his clown act was completely overlooked by Tally but not by Sgt. Krone. And when that was reviled to both Annie Weber s well as Tally he knew that his and her goose was cooked. And worse of all him in murdering the clown Tim Connors was the one that did all the cooking! That by his a**backwards attempt to get the police and Sgt. Krone off his tail which murdering Connors he put them on!

Excellent!

This is in a recent DVD release of film noir telltales.

An excellent little featurette... Edwin Max ("The Judge" in "Follow Me Quietly") excels as the deadpan thief who doesn't hesitate to kill. Also excellent is Vera Marshe - equally hard-bitten and deadpan - as his mistress and accomplice in crime. William Schallert - Patty Duke's TV father - also has a minor role in this.

I also enjoyed the evocative street shots of a 1952 city.

What's really great is the unexpected twist ending... they just don't write 'em like this anymore.

Film noir buffs will like this one!
