In the last moments of World War II, a secret Nazi space program evaded destruction by fleeing to the Dark Side of the Moon. During 70 years of utter secrecy, the Nazis construct a gigantic space fortress with a massive armada of flying saucers. Written by
A tribute to 'Pink Floyd' is made by using synthesizer effects for barely a few seconds from the band's track "On the Run" from their album Dark Side of the Moon (which is where the Nazis made base). The music can be heard just after the scene where the Earth fleet departs for the moon. See more »
At the end, when the camera pans up from the Moon base to view Earth through the crater created by the Gotterdammerung, we see Earth three-quarter covered in shadow; in the next shot, when the camera reverses its position and tracks backward from the moon over Earth we see the sun rise up behind the Moon, effectively creating a lunar eclipse. Were that the case we should have seen Earth as a full disc with no shadow in the first shot. See more »
I watched this at a Munich cinema (Munich is where Hitler actually started the Nazi movement) in original English version with a crowd of mostly Germans. The audience was laughing their way through the entire movie, with several long applauds.
I loved this movie for three reasons: the political mocking of the US, the CGI and the references to other movies. Some may find it a camp movie, but this did not distract from the storyline. The scrip hast enough depth to make you wish they had added another 20 minutes of footage.
The beginning and middle part were great, although I found the ending a bit anti-climactic. The ending does follow upon the outcome of events, unlike many Hollywood movies it doesn't have absurd twists.
Some of the acting was below standards. But it's a refreshing movie to see. It shows that a new era of independent movies has come about: Hollywood budgets no longer compete with original ideas. It will pose a problem to Hollywood (and America too), because people like myself are fed up with the same one-sided world-view we've been watching for decades now.
