Trivia

Keith David, who plays the detective in the interrogation scene with Logan Lerman also did the voice over for the "Slayers" commercial.
Michael C. Hall personally recommended actor Sam Witwer for his role after Witwer played "Neil Perry" in Dexter (2006).
The news anchors are played by Psych (2006) co-stars James Roday and Maggie Lawson who as of the film's release, were also in their third year of a relationship.
The opening montage of time-lapse shots and other scenes of the world where we see ads for Kable and/or graffiti of Ken Castle overlaid on buildings or walls are mostly taken from Ron Fricke's wordless film Baraka (1992), for example, the shots of the Giza Pyramids, India, homeless man sleeping under a bridge among others.
In an unusual move, the film was actually shot for the 2.40:1 aspect ratio. However, the first edited scenes were done with the unmatted image, but subsequently masked to 2.40:1. The directors preferred the 1.85:1 version, which allowed the audience to see more information and accommodated the handheld camerawork better, and so the aspect ratio was switched. Miraculously, no boom mics needed to be digitally erased from the previously-unused picture information.
Was filmed before Neveldine/Taylor made Crank: High Voltage (2009).
Neveldine/Taylor wanted to make the film in 3-D but it was scrapped due to budget limitations.
The motorcycle driven by Trace is a Buell Firebolt.
Efren Ramirez makes a very brief cameo as the DJ at the Society rave.
One of the album covers shown in Simon's music library is Antithesis from a Kansas death metal band Origin.
