Where are you?

I was hoping we would have more than 2 episodes of the Hines. So far I've enjoyed what I've seen. I'm well acquainted with living off grid in Alaska but not anywhere else. I'm hoping to give this family a fair to chance as long as it remains unscrpted and does anything but copy the Brown family of Alaska Bush People.

Pretty good show so far, a bit scripted in some prats but overall decent
firballblaze-6968929 July 2019
A few of the kids needed speech therapy before they went off-grid but all in all seem to be a pretty close loving family.

True American Heart.
wildfillyt17 June 2019
This show shows true family values, it shows people how family is supposed to be. The connection within spread out to the land, animals and God's good. Makes me wish I would have done the same thing when my children were young. Values don't come from city life it comes from the heart that this family has. I'm 100% for this family show and can't wait to see more! (Wholesome family!)

They need a better production team.
sherrae17 June 2019
Raising Wild is an interesting show. Another reviewer would like to know more about the Hines background, how the family lived before and who lives in their other property in the valley. I completely agree. The homesteading premise is so interesting, whatever degree they are actually homesteading. I hope they find a competent production team so the series can continue and give the overdone Browns a run for their money. It is long over do that we have a replacement for the Browns. I wish the Discovery Channel would stick to actual documentaries and stop airing manufactured drama.

Love this show

Come on Discovery Channel; you delayed the show 2 shows into the season; this family is the real deal and unlike any other family you've documented thus far. I know these guys personally and they're what reality TV is all about . I finally have a show that my entire family can sit together and watch without all the garbage. It's time we get back to this style of tv with real experiences from real people. Not to mention that these guys have a heart for the lord.

Off the grid?
john-168583 June 2019
1st, it is an enjoyable show to watch. Sorta "Hillbilly Blood" supersized.

They start off saying that they are "living off the grid and Homesteading". I guess this is true if 'off the grid' means no paved roads and not cutting you hair or combing it. They have backhoes, generators, water well, electric tools, vehicles, animal trailers and a home that they call 'the barn' that they live in. Other than having a dirt floor and (so far) no running water - pretty nice place to rough it. Seems that they have plenty of cash to build, create or invent new stuff.

All conversations and scenarios are scripted for best TV effect. "We need a greenhouse so that we can make it thru the winter. Take the backhoe and dig out a spot to but it, use the pile of railroad ties to reinforce it and drill each one and use rebar for dowels. Or, they go the 'guy up the road' to pickup some goats and chickens previously purchased. See a Llama, only one around, ask if they can have it for free, of course they can and they corral it into a towed animal trailer that wasn't attached to the only truck they brought on they way up there.

Overall fun to watch, just to see what the next 'emergency' scenario will be, like Hillbilly Blood. I'm still trying to figure out why someone will would bring several very large trucks of (s)crap to a new homesite, except for an emergency/fun fix. The, lets go to the scrap pile and take 3 riding lawn mowers apart so the we can race them down the hill for fun. 1st episode had to go to the scrap pile twice, guessing it's going to be a valuable guest star during the season.

Best new show out there!
cjbemom19 June 2019
Discovery Channel is making a big mistake if they cancel this show. Two episodes in and we have already become attached to the Hines family. It left us wanting to watch more! The way this family interacts and treats each other is amazing. Such kindness, love and respect. You don't get that on tv much anymore. This show needs to be seen! Hoping they bring it back!!!!

I feel less intelligent than I was before
indydallas13 January 2020
I truly believe this show has killed some brains cells. To truly believe the unintelligible rantings of ill educated bunch of rednecks would anyway show the true skills required to live off grid, you must think all your audience are dumb. This is a show designed for viewers who enjoyed shows like Honey booboo and Duck dynasty.

That being said my husband and I hadn't laughed so hard in a very long time. Maybe sell the show to the comedy network.

In closing if you have more than a grade 5 Canadian education or have more than camo in your closet don't waste your time.

Please keep this show in your lineup. It is wonderful to see a truly family based showing how a family works together at all times. This is the type of show that should be seen by all. Love this family.

Absolutely Loved
offoconnell-529713 June 2019
I enjoyed watching the first time homesteaders. I admire that they broke from a mundane life in the suburbs to try and live out their dreams by living off the land. Many people would never make such a dramatic change and take such a huge risk with their children.

The humor and the naiveté of the family was very endearing. I look forward to seeing what adventures are to come for the Hines Family.

REAL Family Show
howesandh18 June 2019
We love watching this show. It shows what a REAL family is like. The Hines family shows work ethic, love of family, and the American dream. In just two episodes you see how they overcome obstacles by working together and trusting in each other's strengths. Love how they build each other up and encourage them to try new things. More families should treat each other like they do.

Authentic Close Family Giving Homesteading a Try
robertdufresne17 June 2019
I was disappointed the show was rescheduled after the second episode of the inaugural season. It's easy to identify with the Hines family, because they're not experts at this homesteading thing. They're real people in a truly new situation. They came from the 'burbs in Texas to their land in northern Washington, because Brett and Wendy didn't like the way their kids' lives were being affected by modern suburban life. Brett, an Army veteran who was shot in Afghanistan, wants to give off-grid life a try, because as his family develops their homestead, the homestead will also shape his family and bring them closer. It's wonderful to see how close they are while still experiencing the same challenges and dynamics anyone can recognize in their own family. This is a wholesome, real, family who is trying to accomplish something so many of us wish we could try. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Hines family inspires a lot more people to do something similar in their own lives, scaled to whatever they're able to do within their own circumstances. Raising Wild is an endearing look into a regular family doing something very cool--which is a refreshing counterbalance to extreme survival shows that almost no one will ever have the opportunity or the need to try and Kardashianesque nonsense that the entire world could do without, at least in my opinion.

Way better than Alaskan Bush people.
ruedog-966927 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I feel the brilliant mind set of these first time off the grid home setters is amazing. I really wish they could show how they came to Washington and what they lived in before they built the barn. The mid set and thinking out of the box is 110% mind blowing. I can't believe the things and creativity they can think of. It episode 1 and I have a feeling some people are just not giving this show enough credibility yet. A child having the idea to race lawn mowers down the hill it just car from out of to ordinary. These are the families I love. Parents letting children think for themselves. We need more kids that are allowed to think for themselves in the generations to come and as a parent I look up to Brett and Wendy. Oh and not forget about the laughing factor. I couldn't stop laughing. This family is absolutely funny! I got a stomach workout just by watching the show!

Love the family and the show
tinadegraff17 June 2019
I know the family when they lived in Texas. They are so loving and humble and we miss them. The show is great I love it and was sad when it did not come on Sunday night the 16th. I don't have cable or satellite TV so I had to by a roku so I could watch it on my TV. I watched the first episode on my phone and then the second episode I hooked up my computer to the TV so I could watch it on my TV. I was determined to get to watch it on my TV so everyone could see it instead of everyone trying to watch it on my phone. Sunday has become my day to get to just to watch the show. Please bring it back. We love the family and the show.

An oasis of good in a sea of noise
jtstn18 June 2019
I watched the first two episodes and found myself trying to fast forward through the commercials as I wanted to get to the next part. It was 'live' broadcast. I was really looking forward to watching Episode 3, and all I found was Naked & Afraid. A good show, but doesn't have the substance of Raising Wild. Such a great show to watch and has a very genuine feel, while most reality shows feel suspiciously fake. In two episodes I'm already invested in the family members' individual stories. Don't let this show vanish.

True Reality Show with Family Love, Values, and Closeness
swalraven-6692417 June 2019
I have known this family before they ever moved to their new homestead. Their loyalty to each other, their love for each other, and their core values show through on the show as much as it did to know them personally. I love watching them all succeed and living the dream. Not many families could do what they are doing and remain together. I look forward to the show every week. Thank you Discovery Channel for featuring such a God fearing, loving family who gives it a 100%!

Genuine
jtstn19 June 2019
I'm glad I got to watch the first two episodes, but I'm really hoping to see the rest. Its funny, I saw Episode 2 sandwiched between two "Naked & Afraid" shows, and neither of those held my attention. You know you are "into a show" when you are trying to fast forward through the commercials to see what comes next,...then you realize its a first time airing. Great show, fun to watch, but also has a very genuine feel to it as two episodes in and I am invested in the family. This show is a welcome change to scripted noise and edited drama. This is a show that's not only worth watching, but I'm hooked enough to want to see what happens next.
