• Loosely based on Pete Best who was the original drummer for the Beatles and can be seen at the beginning of the movie reading the Rolling Stone magazine with Vesuvius on the cover.
  
  
• Denny Blaze, also known as Blazin Hazen of YouTube fame, is an extra in this film and can be seen walking behind Rainn Wilson when he's walking on the street after quitting the band.
  
  
• Jason Sudeikis says to Jeff Garlin's character, "hey, it's Norm from Cheers!" Sudeikis is the nephew of George Wendt, who played Norm in "Cheers" (1982).
  
  
• Some of the scenes were filmed in Toronto, Canada (not actually Ohio). The Chinatown scene was filmed on Spadina street in Toronto's Asian district. One of the earliest club scenes when they exit the gig and into a back alley to a limo, was filmed in and outside an all ages club downtown called the Reverb.
  
  
• Christina Applegate mentions to Fish during the music video shoot that she was in an all girl punk band. When in fact, in real life, Applegate was a founding member of the all girl group The Pussycat Dolls.
