Quotes

Ed Green: [finding a hand-held crank at the crime scene] See, they used it to crank open the door when the power went out. But the question is why'd they take it with them?
Cyrus Lupo: Yeah, and why would Conlan have two in his garage?
Connie Rubirosa: Well, the answer is he wouldn't, would he?
Ed Green: Nick and Rory brought this one. They probably didn't leave it behind because they knew it can be traced back to them.
Connie Rubirosa: And how did they know they were gonna need this thing to open the garage door in the first place?
Ed Green: Exactly.

A few greedy people
18 March 2017 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

The worst aspects of unregulated capitalism are on display here in this Law And Order story. During a 'planned' blackout' of New York City someone decided to take advantage of it and plan a kidnap of the wife and daughter of a Hedge Fund Manager. It gets botched of course when a live-in nanny is killed outright and the wife dying later in captivity. Of course the blackout hinders the investigation of Jesse Martin and Jeremy Sisto.

When the daughter is rescued and by the look of where they were stashed it seems obvious someone had knowledge of what was to happen.

A planned blackout intending to boost the price of energy is a frightening thing. In the years of the New Deal regulation of utilities was a big item. It seems to have been lost however in the age of the Gordon Gekkos. I won't go further, but talk about greed.

I will say this, the perpetrators one of whom has a connection to the fund that owns the power company sees this monstrous scheme of greed unfolding, don't think for a minute he's not decided to cash in on it in his own way.

This episode is a winner in that it shows just how we are at the mercy of a few greedy people.
