Hush Little Baby-The Only Good Hush Movie was Sweet Charlotte *1/2
edwagreen27 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
What's with the ending in this film? Did she kill the child or did the latter drown? What was the writer of this tripe thinking of when the ending came around?

As in the cases with all these type of films, for a while you think there is a conspiracy going on. In this case, it would be between the husband and sister-in-law. What's with the latter? What happened to her marriage?

The writers of this film needed to see "The Exorcist" back in 1973. Or, was this child "The Bad Seed" of the 1956 variety?

By the way, pity the poor psychiatrist. She really got it at the end. She had probably wanted to exit even earlier after reading this tasteless script.

Not such a bad one
azureeblue3 December 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Hey, this movie wasn't so bad. I don't know what movie you all were watching, but that ending was totally not the same as what you guys were talking about. At first she thought that her baby was evil but then she realized that it was her first daughter who was causing all of that to happen so she told the spirit to take her instead. And the end had the creep factor.

I'm not sure what movie you guys were watching that "didn't have an ending", but it was not the same at all as the one I just watched. Maybe it was an alternate ending? I don't know. But I thought the creep factor was excellent. But I'm wondering why she never told anyone why the baby bit her nipple so hard that it started bleeding. Why would you keep that to yourself?

News flash to all the reviewers- sometimes you need to use imagination
aprilsfriendorin28 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Apparently none of these reviewers have ever heard of an ambiguous ending? I'm surprised by all the users complaining about the ending not being fully explained. I also get frustrated with unfulfilling endings, but in this case I thought the movie did a solid job of giving us suggestions without telling us outright what the answer is. TONS of movies do this- why are people so upset about this one? Maybe people just except to have everything explained to them piece by piece nowadays...

I just felt the need to say that. Let's move on- the movie itself wasn't that great. It did have some sudden shocking moments, but it also meandered a lot. However, it was entertaining enough, and some of the scenes were downright scary, which surprised me for a Lifetime movie. It sort of mixes up serious post-partum depression with actual demons, which obviously isn't great, but the haunted baby was definitely entertaining.

Tripe Ending
Boogalow12 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Was OK for the most part but what was it with the ending? I was expecting another ten minutes to explain what happened. The end scene shows the house and a female voice saying: 'Come on Katie, time for your nap' - it's awful and I hate films with non-endings like this.

It's all down to lazy writing, was it too much to come up with a reasonable conclusion? - obviously!

It always amazes me how trash like this ever gets filmed, do the writers, for instance, know they have to write a beginning, a middle, AND an end?????

A very poor effort I'm afraid.

Eh - It didn't end? ***MAJOR Spoilers***

Warning: Spoilers
I would have given this movie zero if I could. I stayed up until 3am last night watching this all the way to the end, just to see what actually was going on.

More fool me, because I still couldn't tell you. What the heck was the point of the film??!!! Is she crazy, is she depressed, is she haunted? And what the heck were the final few scenes about, they didn't explain ANYTHING. I've seen some tripe in my time - I'll watch anything once, but this was just horrendous. They didn't explain anything at all - the whole way through the movie, the mother is convinced that the baby is evil - then ten minutes before it ends she's waving a knife round to protect the kid?! Then what, a big dark forest scene, a cut to the same dang exterior shot that seems to be used every 10 minutes, and we hear the mother telling the baby it's nap time AND THAT'S IT. Worst Movie EVER.

Very basic.......very very basic....but with cheese!
mcgeethomas17 March 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not gonna take to long to comment on this film. From 5 minutes in, my opinion was that the film was simply a typical poor thriller. The story line had been done before, the acting was not terrible but just seemed too easy, with the lead lady just sobbing and crying throughout.....giving me a headache! But the finishing blow came about 30 minutes into the film when you hear the supposedly dead little girl from the past say "you killed me mummy!" In a ridiculous voice. That along with the fact that the lead character seems to like talking to herself throughout, just to let the audience know the obvious like "why's the window open?". May not sound like a bad thing reading it here but after watching the same scene you will surely end up thinking to yourself "yeah? so just get on with it!"

I just cant help but think how bored I was. It seems like most thrillers are just churned out of the same factory now. "Hush Little Baby" even seemed to have a silly background soundtrack that was so over the top that it should have been in a joke movie like "Just another thriller movie" or something!

The point of this movie seemed to be to guess whether the mother was actually going nuts over the guilt from the death of her first daughter or that it was actually the evil baby who has the spirit of the dead daughter within, looking for revenge. Hmmmm.

So the writers of "Hush Little Baby" watched a bunch of quality thrillers, took an idea from each (The Omen for instance, hell there's even a crow for goodness sake!), ticked the boxes and thought it would translate into a cash cow. They were probably right. I didn't pay to see it, but Im sure many did. As long as they don't expect any recognition for this waste of two hours!

Maybe Im being too harsh? Maybe I was in a bad mood whilst watching this? I know for a fact though that I was in a good mood before the film.

T.x

Disappointing in the End
Stoshie9 July 2019
This movie started off with a lot of promise, which continued right up until the end. Was what the mother was experiencing real, or part of a mental illness? Was there a secret she was hiding all along? Was there an evil entity involved?

But then, in the last 10 minutes or so, it completely fell apart. Totally. The worst ending of any movie I've ever seen. And that's saying a lot, because a lot of psychological/horror/thrillers have disappointing endings.

I know made-for-TV movies have limited budgets and time to film, but still, the writer had no idea how to coherently end this movie. No director or producer helped create one, either. It just ended without resolving any of the questions I raised above. It tried to, sort of, with the very ending, but it made no sense. That was just tacked on to give the illusion of a conclusion.

Such a letdown. More so because of the intriguing main part of the film. When it was over, I felt I had wasted my time watching it.

Spooky High Class Thriller!
rbrb28 May 2009
This actually is an enjoyable type horror-thriller. The lead actress, Victoria Pratt, is charismatic and gives a convincing performance. As indeed do all the players in the film. In brief, mother loses her young daughter in a river 'accident' and believes rightly or not, that her new baby has been taken over by the spirit of her deceased daughter and intends harm to the said mother.Or is she just hallucinating? The movie is very atmospheric.

Excellent musical score if one listens closely; and the set design and direction is compelling. A lot of the picture is set in a spooky old house. Add to that an apparent killer baby, then well who can resist this film?! So whilst I am not entirely satisfied with the climatic ending all in all it is my opinion the movie deserves 6 and half out of 10, rounded up thus:

7/10.
