The Lost Boys 4 Is Dead and the Frog Brothers TV Series Is Homeless

23 November 2012 10:04 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The Lost Boys franchise is a strange one. A cult hit from 1987, it was supposed to get a proper sequel two years after its release, which would have revolved around The Lost Girls. That never came to fruition. But the film, which was notable for bringing together two of that eras biggest teen stars, The Two Coreys, the late Corey Haim and Corey Feldman, continued to have a solid shelf life throughout the years.

In 2008, Warner Premiere, the home video division of Warner Bros., notable for turning some of the studios past hits into straight-to-dvd franchise, decided to revive The Lost Boys with Lost Boys: The Tribe, a film the fans didn't really want. It was more of a reboot than a true sequel, and it was quite disappointing. Except for the inclusion of its one returning star, Corey Feldman, who reprised his role as Edgar Frog, one half of the Frog Brothers, »

Warner Bros Shuts Down Warner Premiere, A Christmas Story 2 Still Set for October

14 August 2012 2:30 AM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

Warner Bros has shut down Warner Premiere, it's straight-to-video division. The company was launched at the height of the DVD boom in the mid-2000s, when consumers bought movies made specifically for home entertainment. "Given the continuing decline in the direct-to-video film market, the decision was made to close Warner Premiere," Warner Bros said in a statement. "The division will continue and complete production on its remaining film and digital series projects into the fall." Warner Premiere was behind "Lost Boys: The Tribe" and "Lost Boys: The Thirst," as well as "Get Smart: Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control," "Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning," and "The Hills Run Red." The company is looking to release "A Christmas Story 2" on DVD and Blu-ray on October 30th. In the sequel, Ralphie (Braeden Lemasters) is a teenager and has his sights set on a new toy for Christmas: a 1938 Hupmobile Skyline Convertible. »

Warner Premiere is Closing Up Shop: Lost Boys Series Staked for Good?

13 August 2012 2:42 PM, PDT | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

Warner Bros. announced today that its home video brand Warner Premiere is closing its doors for good.  This is the division that gave us genre titles like the direct-to-dvd sequels Lost Boys: The Tribe and Lost Boys: The Thirst.

The branch of Warner Home Entertainment premiered in 2007 with Return to House on Haunted Hill. Other horror titles followed like The Hills Run Red.  When Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat was being kicked around by the studio, the Halloween favorite was dumped to Warner Premiere for release.  The company also packaged Mortal Kombat: Legacy - the popular digital series that rolled out on Machinima.
