Gene Callahan was the original set decorator on the CBS TV musical "Cinderella". Gene Callahan was a NY CBS TV staff set decorator-designer, who later moved into film decorating with credits for the films, "Butterfield Eight", "The Hustler" and Elia Kazan's film "Baby Doll". Elia Kazan hired Gene Callahan as his Production Designer on the Academy Award Winning film "America, America", filmed on location in Greece and in New York City. Gene was the Production Designer on the film "A Star Is Born". Callahan last two films were "Steel Magnolias" and "The Man In The Moon", both films located in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Gene's home was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, although he had maintained a residence in New York City and a condo in Valley Village, (North Hollywood) California. Gene Callahan died at his Louisiana home of a heart attack on Christmas morning, December 25, 1990.
