The good: unbiased, the bad: try to do too much

Let me start with the conclusion, If you like crime stories you should definitely watch this serie, it is really interesting and it is amazingly similar to the real case. If you are looking for high quality in performances, photography, and directing, it is not for you.

I am from Colombia. That crime was so popular from 2010 to 2013, and even in 2019 is not 100% closed. The first positive point is the cast, surprisingly similar to the real people involved in the case, really the actos looks like the twins. Also, the serie did not take any side, just expose the reality according to Colombian law and courts, which is suitable given the circumstances - almost every single colombian person know the case and think Laura and Jessy are guilty-. Sadly, this is not enought, because the greatest point is also the most negative one ,the mayority of actors and actress did not make a good performance, even when they are so similar to real characters. They failed in way to create tension at critical moments (excepting the brother of the main character and Jessy), but the sountrack did not help neither, nor the photography.

Fabiana Medina´s great performance.

It´s a good mystery story. They structure the main plot just like the facts happens in the real case, but it fit so well. But the high point of the show is the performance of Fabiana Medina, she looks so similar to the real person and she is the spine of the story. If you like crime series, you should watch this.

Magnificent, Top Notch

Two different social classes of Colombia face each other in Court when a College student of the lower class got murdered and some of his pals of a higher class layer stand acussed. Will Justice prevail? Something one wonders time and again in Latin America. Everything looks dark, corrupt and unconvincing. This iis an outstanding testimonial, very well enacted and with excellent performers. Kept me glued to the TV set. One of a kind series product

Crime Diaries: Night Out
Tweekums17 September 2021
This Colombian drama, which is based by real events, tells the story one mother's determination to find out how her son died in a park after a Halloween party and, with the help of a determined prosecutor to bring those responsible to justice. Early on we see college student Luis Andrés Colmenares going to a party at a club with his wealthier friends; after an argument with his girlfriend he storms off; she later calls to say she saw him fall into a drainage canal running through the park but there is no sign of his body. He is found later, in an area that had apparently been searched. Despite irregularities the case is quickly closed as it is determined to be an accident. His mother won't accept this a starts to pressure the prosecutor; when a new man is given that job the investigation gets more serious; it won't be easy though as those suspected are from powerful families with ties to government and the justice department.

I found this to be a gripping series; it successfully combines several genres as we have the mystery as to what happened, court room drama as the prosecutor tries to find justice for Luis Andrés and social commentary on the way those at the top seem to be above the law. I wasn't expecting too many surprises but questions raised late on make the final outcome far from certain. The cast does a fine job bringing their characters to life. Overall I'd definitely recommend this series.

These comments are based on watching the series in Spanish with English subtitles.

History of a Crime: This Show
edicionccq20 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This show is not actually terrible. It's just average. The acting is not so bad, and the pacing is slow but intriguing. The problem remains the fact that this show is based on real events of case that remains unsolved.

SPOILERS AHEAD.

I know, some people really like unsolved cases because they can try discovering what really happens, but this doesn't really work that well in a TV show. The main plot of this show is what happens to Luis Andrés Colmenares. And it succeeds at telling you what happens after his body is encountered but it doesn't tell you what happens with Colmenares. It just gave you many theories, or options about what could have happened but never a real answer.

All of this could be solved in a show inspired on the true events but with more creativity. This show didn't request permission from many the victims, and that's disrespectful even though the show wants to seem like it respects everyone involved in the case.

Well Structured, Unbiased

Warning: Spoilers
Well filmed and acted. Hopefully the truth will come out at some point. Not leaning to either side but you can easily tell that rich people can try to evade the law as much as they can with money. Not saying that they were guilty but there's a lot of things that dont add up and they have the money and power to make things look their way. Disgusting.
