Channing Tatum has signed on to make his directorial debut with the adaptation Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock, based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quick (Silver Linings Playbook).

The actor will co-direct and produce alongside his longtime collaborator Reid Carolin, with the filmmakers currently searching for a writer to adapt the book. James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now) previously wrote an earlier version of the adaptation, but it seems his draft is no longer being used, with the producers looking for new writers.

The story centers on a troubled teenager who plans on killing his best friend and then himself. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Channing Tatum may star as the teacher who intervenes in the boy's plan, if everything lines up just right.

Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin are also producing alongside Peter Kiernan through their Free Association company. It isn't known when production may begin.
